Differences between B-series cable trannies!?!?!
I'm having troubles figuring out all the differences in the cable B-series trannies so I can I purchase the correct rebuild kit. I just got off the phone with Transtar and they have 3 kits availabe. YS1 apparently has 2 different models (this is all from the guy on the phone). One has a 3 pc dial syncro on 2nd gear, apparently the other uses a standard blocker ring. So there are 2 kits. The third is for an S1. He is calling the manufacturer and getting me a detailed parts list to figure out exactly what is different, but he dosent even have a kit for the Y1 I am going to rebuild. All 3 of the kits are the same number kit, they just have a different suffix.
Does anybody have more information on all of this. Have you had to rebuild your cable tranny? What kit (part #) and what supplier did you go through? Did everything work out? And does anybody know all the itty bitty differences between all of the B-series cable trannies?

there is another jdm tranmission called a J1. its very similar to an S1.
there are two types of YS1s. 90-93 integra LS use the long geared version and the short geared version is also a YS1... dont ask. also, i have had experience with a transmission called an A1. i might be wrong, but i think this transmission may have only came in canada on those integras because the car was originally from canada that i pulled the A1 out of...
S1,J1,Y1,and JDM YS1 share all the same parts. the american transmissions have their own sets....
hope that helps. anybody correct me if im wrong... thanks

Helpful but you're a tad wrong....
A1, S1, J1, and Y1 share the same internal design but are NOT the same as the YS1 cable trannys.
All YS1's actually use 92+ hydro B16 internals. This goes for both US and JDM YS1's.
jdmb16acivic,
If you have any of these trannys: A1, S1, J1, Y1
You don't want to get the YS1 rebuild kit as it uses a differnt internal design.
And well, if you have an S1 kit, then get the S1 rebuild kit.
That should leave you with 1 kit to get if you have an A1/J1/Y1 transmission
