anyone ever take their block to carquest for boring out?
the only place where i live that bores blocks is Carquest. To bore my B16 20 over, clean it before and after, honed, and make sure piston-wall clearance is .003 for $120? sounds good to me.....anyone ever take their stuff to carquest? your experience would be helpful.....thanks guys.

my wifey works at a carquest warehouse. me and my boys go their to have flywheels turned and such as that. Ive whored out her employee price on axles numerous times, and several of us run their ceramic brake pads. all good in my book.

Since Honda's use open cylinders check to see if they (carquest) use a plate to hold the cylinders in place when they bore. Can't remember the exact name for it. It will stop the distortion under boring and give you a true cylinder bore that is not "egg" shaped. Other than that as long as the bore is perfectly perpendicular to the crank-not the deck- then a bore is a bore!

The aftermarket sleeves need to be held in place because they are just lightly pressed in.The stock sleeves are cast into the block and won't move when bored/honed.

i would check around with your local people, see if they have done any stuff like that at carquest. cause PEOPLE are diff... its not up to the shop.. its up to the person that does your stuff... so good luck.. i'm not saying carquest sucks or anything they've put my valve springs and retainers in for me A+.. but i'm only saying people are diff so its not really up to CARQUEST doing a good job...
