Reason for ASR brace on EM1
I see people installing ASR rear subframe braces on EM1's and something doesn't quite make sense to me. Do EM1's suffer the same subframe tearout fate as the other civics when upgrading swaybars above the 13mm OEM SI bar? I believe EM1's already have backing plates on the swaybar mount locations. Hence my question, why would you ever need an ASR brace on an EM1? Stiffening the frame in general?

all the EM1's have is threaded holes, aside from that the subframes are the same on all 96-00's.
They absolutely can suffer from subframe tear out, but it depends on several things. some do it for function, some do it for looks. when upgrading to a larger bar it's good peace of mind.

OP you're absolutely right, you should upgrade your sway bar to a CTR one right now. No need for subframe brace at all.
