Bushing Removal Press Requirements

Bushing Removal Press Requirements
I'm looking into buying a shop press to swap in a set of Prothane bushings. What kind of tonnage should I be looking at? Will 4-tons work? Or should I shoot for 10 or 20 tons?

Re: Bushing Removal Press Requirements (dienliv)
Just drill out the rubber, and cut the sleves out with a sawzall, i had my car done in no time. The whole press thing still scares me after i saw a socket get shot through a shop wall.

If your going to buy the press just for this, no point. You can do what they mentioned above and to press them in just use a bench press, works like a charm

Re: (BrokeAssPinoy)
I bought my press at harbor freight, and the price difference between the little on and the big one wasn't all that significant. In the end I picked up the 20 ton press and it has never flinched during bushing, bearing, stud, hub, whatever install. For some bushings it's WAY overkill, but for others I'm glad I don't have anything smaller.
