Default 24 mm swaybar ok for daily driving?

i have a 2000 civic ex, which doesnt come with a factory sway bar, so im somewhat new to them. i understand how they work and everything but not what size i should use.

i have a 2000 civic ex lowered about 2.75 inches all around. i have the function 7 LCA's with thenon-spherical bearings. ive been looking on JHPUSA and decided i want to get the purple ASR subframe reinforcement that comes with the ASR 24 mm sway bar and adjustable endlinks......is this too big for daily driving...i know most people will say to go with an ITR 22mm but i wanna go ahead and get the ASR bar with sway bar and endlinks all at one time and thats the only special they offer in the purple ASR bar. like i said this will be used on a daily driven car that gets "spiritually driven" down mountain roads from time to time. will a sway bar this big cause alot of oversteer or understeer or will i get a good neutral feeling from it

What are your spring rates and what is the intended use for the car? If you don't plan on hitting a track or auto-x, then I really wouldn't bother with something that big.

I have a 98ex w/comptech 22mm rear, so very similar setup to what you are proposing. You will have a car that is somewhat neutral to having a tendency to oversteer. The real issue is that it could be somewhat unsafe on public roads. If you aren't comfortable with the limits of your car, you really don't want to go finding them on public streets.

im not sure what the spring rates are. they are D2 coilovers. they are just a standard spring rate from the manufacture. yea ive never gotten any feedback from any of the people ive talked to about swaybars so all helps. yea i dont want to have any over or understeer. so is 22mm good for daily driving, and having fun on some back roads

im running ASR 24mm on my daily, you have the ablility to adjust the stiffness. it has two pre-settings on the bar, along with adjustable end links to further tune the settings. it works fantastically on my daily. im also running Koni STR.Ts with omni slip overs, blox control arms. i wouldnt fret over the asr bar.

You need to figure out what spring rates your running. A large rear sway can make your car real *** happy in a hurry so I'd definitely recommend test/tune on an autox course and skip the 'spiritually driving' down mtn roads altogether.

24mm will be fine for daily driving, just don't drive like an idiot or you might find yourself facing the wrong direction in the middle of the road.

A rear sway bar, especially a big rear sway bar increases the tendency to oversteer. But as far as daily driving it should be fine as long as you dont go driving around like a jackass. I daily drive with a 22mm rear sway and I have had zero accidental oversteer problems!

i dont really know how adjusting the stiffness works. on my function 7 control arms theirs 4 holes. one labeled S, one M, one H, and the other one is below those 3 and has nothing beside it. i assume those stand for soft, medium, and hard. so your telling me there are also pre-settings with the ASR bar? how does that work?

5k=~ 280 lb/in
7k=~ 390 lb/in

You don't need much power to take a turn too fast and send it around. Really, the only thing you need to realize is that adding a large rear sway is going to dramatically change the way your car handles especially depending on what kind of tires your running.

With that being said, assuming your running the 5k in the rear, a 24mm bar would probably work pretty good for you.

Are you using the oem front sway bar?

What kind of tires do you use?
