Hi guys; here is my first post...

i have a 2000 civic ex coupe and currently shopping for the sway bar. i have heard many people have horror stories of tearing their subframes out using other companies sway bars (skunk2), and i would rather get something that's really nice.

It really depends on how you will be using the car. If you are going to be street only, the stock front bar is fine. As for the rear, on a street car the ST 19mm bar is more than adequate. If you are going to auto-x with it, then I do suggest spending more and getting either the Comptech, ST Speedtech, or even the ITR 22mm with a Beaks kit. Like I said earlier, it all depends on what you're going to do.

The susension techniques Front and Rear swaybar kit was one of the first mods i put on my car. It really did make a noticable difference when driving.

To reduce understeer it really doesn't need a front sway bar at all. Go stiffer in the back and don't worry about the fron't.

Be careful with the ST Speedtech sway bar/tie bar. They also don't have anything protecting your rear sub-frame. All the tear-outs I've heard of, ST Speedtech was involved. Your safest bet would be to go with the Comptech Tie bar/sway bar kit or the ITR sway bar with the beaks kit.

If you do a lot of road racing (autocrossing for example) and are afraid of damaging the rear, I'd go with the Comptech. like everyone else is saying. The integration with the tie bar keeps from that sort of thing happening. As far as the front sway bar, if your model did not come with one, then I'd consider getting one.

It all comes down to how you want the car to drive. Some people feel they have better control over the car when there's more body roll. Others like the car to stay flat. It's all a matter of preference. I like the low solid ride when I autocross. I feel more in control and can handle drifts easier. But there again, it's a matter of preference! If you like that, then get the stiffer sway bars all around...

I have a comptech swaybar/tiebar and I can get three wheel action when I autocross. When it's set at the stiffest setting. The pivot point on my car is more around the e brake lever.

What kind of car do you have? I'm sure if you put stiffer springs on the front, you wouldn't get that. I know a guy that has a VW hatchback and can get that back wheel 1-1.5 feet off the ground! It's insane to watch. He's lookin to put some stiffer springs on the front to reduce it to hardly no lift.

My pos DX didn't come with any. I learned that after pitching the rear end and doing a 180 around a small hairpin at 60. I bought suspension technique sway bars and that helped allot.

What soft of reinforcement will you be using for the JDM ITR 23mm rear sway? Would the beaks work with that? Custom? Or none?

If your ride came with the factory front sway just upgrade the bushings with Neuspeed or something. There is really no need to upgrade the sway bar. I myself was going to get the Comptech Combo but might be getting rid of the car so why put more money into the car. I already have a rear upper and lower tie bar. Who knows though I might just go ahead and get the Rear combo and Pillar bar. That might convince me to keep my car.

Yeah, beaks kit. JDM bushings, with USDM d brackets.

I had the ST rear sway bar on my 00 coupe for a little over 2 years and had no problems. The difference it makes is noticeable, even with stiffer springs/shocks. I only used the rear bar.

My only complaint is that the bar did start rusting.

on my 98 Hatch i put Speedtech springs and the front and rear sway bars and it handles so good.. very neutral.

just got my S/T swaybars in today..its used and didn't come with any instruction...does anyone know where i can get some instruction on how to install it. Also when it tears the frames....what happens....does that mean your f@%$#*.

The subframe is what tears, and than you'll need a nice welder.

based on my recent search, looks like the progress auto's sway bar is a replica of itr rear sway bar...

btw, i have a mugen twin-loop exhaust on my car, will it block my sway bar installation?

have anyone heard of the sway bar made by tanabe?

I love the Eibach stuff! I have the front 26mm and rear 17mm sway bars. I'm looking forward to their strut braces when they come out!
