IACV Issue
I have a 97 hatch with a "Mini-Me" swap in it that I need to smog(Star smog). I bought the car this way and its been really reliable so far(I had it for a year now). I need to smog this car and I thought by putting the stock pcm back in it would be fine. Apparently the p28 that is in is tuned to make it run cause when I put the stock pcm in I have a Cel for IACV circuit. I did a little digging and found that it was a 3 wire made to a 2 wire IACV. So the orange signal wire is not even attached to anything.
The p28 has an adapter harness that it plugs into to work but I guess it is not hooked up to OBDII port.
Is there a way around this ?

Re: IACV Issue
that computer is obd1
and if you still can have a 3wire iacv (on a y7 throttle body) and plug that orange wire plugs into a13
and Im guessing it originally came stock with an obd2a computer

From what I know its a stock 16y7 block and a 92-95 vtec head(IDK which one), 2 wire vtec wired to a p28 using a adapter harness t plug into the stock wiring.
I want to use the stock ecu(OBDII). Maybe the signal wire(orange) can be jumpered somewhere else for the ecu to recognize it and turn off the cel. IDK.
Will a d16y7 intake work on a 92-95 vtec head ?

Re: IACV Issue
cant help you with that intake working on another head I have no information about that
but you need a d16y7 throttle body for that 3 wire iacv to work along with the plug for it
or you could try and source an obd2-a single over head cam vtec manual ecu and try that in its place and then it would look for a 2 wire iacv mabey
I just know how to go from 2 wire iacv to 3 wire iacv

I'm not sure the vtec ecu would plug in. The adapter plug eliminates the diagnostic port(assuming) and if I have to use it again to plug in a vtec ecu that would defeat the purpose. The intake I'm not sure it would bolt up either because it is completely different. I appreciate the help man , thanks !

Re: IACV Issue
Just get the correct head and run the correct ECU. Whomever thought this was a good idea in CA of all places was an idiot.
No matter what you try in this configuration you're going to fail.

Re: IACV Issue
That's what I'm gonna have to do ! When mods like this was done it was easier to get around the smog with a hookup but now Cali has the new smog program that targets smog shops its either really hard or expensive to get a hooked up smog.
