98 Civic thermostat/fan problem! Please Help
So my civic here's a list of everything I replaced the last few months and my thermostat still won't open and rad. fan won't kick on.
-New headgasket
-New radiator
-New waterpump and timing belt
-2 new coolant temperature sensors (T. housing & the one on the head.. both are 2 prongs)
-3 different thermostats
-flushed the coolant system.
-It overheats in traffic
-The fan works when I jump it at the temp. sensor connector
Could it be a short somewhere? What am I missing? All you honda experts please help me I'm goin crazy over here.
Thanks
Jake

Your crankshaft sensor is bad. You need to replace it. You can pick one up at AutoZone for about 30 bucks.

I have never seen an aftermarket thermostat work well... so I always recommend a Genuine Honda OEM thermostat. Bleeding all air from the cooling system is a must, so you either need to get the car on a high angle slope with the noise of the car pointing up hill or purchase a gravity bleeder (looks like a very large funnel that attaches to the top of the radiator) and run the car until the fans cycle two or three times... let the coolant cool, top off the overflow canister and you should be good.
