the opening in the wastegate is where a dump tube SHOULD go. my buddy ran his 450hp gsr like this and ended up catching his radiator on fire which lead to a destroyed car.

You should have NEVER bought/traded for someone else's turbo project with no knowledge of boosted engines.
Define "quiet".
The BOV. Is it working? Is the turbo system actually building boost? What horsepower is it sitting at? What turbo and what PSI is it tuned for?

How do you KNOW it's on 8psi? Going by what the previous owner told you? What's it tuned on?
Define quiet? It looks like an Ebay knockoff.

Subaru guys make this mistake all the time. Just because you bought a turbocharged vehicle and changed the oil once or twice, doesn't make you an authority on how the entire system works. Thats plainly evident after seeing the condition of your current setup
