would ARP head studs be the best way to Aline the head and gasket?

is the top one main studs and the bottom head studs?

no. the little dowels between the head and block align the head to the gasket to the block.

studs do nothing but keep them attached.

you'd have to contact arp and see. but they both look like head studs to me. top being the typical arp style. the bottom being oem style.

studs do nothing but keep them attached.


i know that but would it also be a good way to line up the head when putting it down and attach them?

Top are studs, the bottom are bolts. Headstuds don't stretch the way headbolts do, and while the dowel pins do align the head and the head gasket headstuds do make absolutely sure you don't accidentally catch the side of a hole in the head gasket and enlarge it.

thanks.. i'm going for a OEM bottom end rebuild and i wasnt sure which was best and i thought both were the same.
do you also know the torque spec (b18c1)

Headstuds > headbolts

Torque specs will be different with headstuds vs headbolts. ARP includes their own torque specs with the head studs.

umm headstuds are not in the bottom end ? that would be rod bolts or main bearing cap bolts
