Anyone have this clutch problem? Won't engage into gears.
1993 Honda Civic VX
All stock and original.
Recently my car have been weird during cold start. My clutch pedal needs to be pressed all the way down and seem to be stuck halfway back (goes back to depressed really slow). The car would start up fine and all, but when trying to engage into gears, the shifter will not go into any. I even have the shifter into gear and start the car and it would start fine. The shifter can go into neutral easily but not back into gear.
Once I get it to work, clutch pedal will act somewhat normal, but still sticky or slow to go back up. Gears will be easy to go in and out of. This is even with 75% of the clutch pedal pressed in, instead of the 100% depress from start. Also, this is my daily commuter and I never go over 3K RPM. Previous owner was a 75 years old MIT professor. There is no slippage on the clutch.
I was thinking maybe the wire is loose or something but not mechanically incline to check it. Anyone have suggestions as to where to look and check? Thanks and happy holidays!

i agree it could be a leak or a bad master cylinder.... the master cylinder could be leaking internally and not holding pressure.... so if you dont see any leaks externally replace the master cylinder.... the master cylinder could be leaking on both sides of the firewall you will just have to check but either way it will need to be replaced...good luck .... any questions just ask...

bleed the clutch. go under the hood. on the top right theres 2 master cylinders. open the smaller on and top it off with dot3 or dot4 brake fluid. Then go in and pump the clutch. Or go search for a how to bleed clutch somewhere on here. I would for you but my internet is assing out.

simple fill clutch res. with fluid. Replace cap.
Have someone pump petal a few times and hold it to ground.
Why they hold it use a 8mm wrench to open bleeder screw on slave let fluid shoot out.
Re tighten screw
Have them pull petal off floor.
repeat this a few time to make sure there is no air in line
remove cap and top off with fluid

Where is the slave? I only see the 1 clutch reservoir which I filled between the max and min.

The slave cylinder is on the front of the transmission, directly behind the main radiator fan.

Yea i have hadthis problem many times (on a side not dont use purple power to clean your engine EVER.. it ate away at the seal on my slave cylinder TWICE) Bleed the clutch and check the clutch master to see if theres fluid copming out of the back of it where it bolts to the body. I had to change mine also !
