On any Honda with the oil life system you change the oil every 15% oil life or one year which ever comes first.

On the Civic Hybrid 09 the manual recommends 0W-20. A quick look a the oils in the store reveals only Mobil1 has the 0W 20 (and pretty pricey at about $ 7 per quart).

Does this car come with Mobil1 from the factory?

If you can't find any, get 5w-20.

Well as I mentioned I did find it but it was only Mobil1.

I am curious if anyone else makes a dino oil of this viscosity, and if this comes with the Mobil1 from the factory as Porsches and Mercedes and Corvettes do.

Honda has their own oil. The only car I know from Honda/Acura that comes stock with Mobil 1 is the RDX.

Thank you for the great write up.

Do you know the reason for the bottom cover. Is it purely cosmetic or is it for some functional reason such as improved aerodynamics, protection of some key component etc.?

The paneling is for improved efficiency of air flow beneath the car. My car has some paneling also, but not to the extent of the hybrid.

as a tech at a honda dealer i please tell other people dont bring your car in when it has a maintenance reminder and you almost put 3k on it and the oil life says 60-70 percent.......15 percent people...technology has changed...oil life percentage reflects how someone drives....save the money and wait a little longer

Ok, so I've got my HCH on jackstands, and I have the panel dropped down, hitting the floor. So now I want to know how in the name of Zeus' butthole did you get the drain pan to sit flat while draining the oil??? Its painfully obvious that the panel is in the way...

Ok, so I had to go MacGyver on this. When the wife wasnt lookin, I took one of those thin flexible cutting boards and wrapped a rubber band around it to give it a U shape. I then used it to direct the flow of the oil back to the drain pain towards the front of the car.

So I dont know whats more ridiculous. The fact that Honda designed it this way or the fact that in well over 2 years, no one seemed to mention this minor detail.

Already ordered a Fumoto valve with nipple so all I need to do next time is connect a tube and drain...
