Default *87* crx si swap questions.

I know this is probably the wrong place to place this thread but whatever.
Im getting an 87 crx si.its fuel injected not carbed.im pretty sure theres almost no rust.
im just wondering what engine i can put in without having to do hella wiring.
I hear the 87 acura integra engine will fit(browntop) with little wiring,is that correct?
im not good with cars at all so all this is gonna be brand new to me.i want to do this swap myself but i might just take it to a shop to be installed.if i was right bout the browntop engine what parts will i need? A shopping list will be
Nice. Any other info is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

You can go B Series. There is a mount kit for it. I did an ITR swap in an 87 crx and it was a LOT of fun..

Browntop will be ok i guess. but nothing compared to a B series. and in my opinion not worth the headache.

For the power difference i'd rather save up and get the b series much more reliable and a LOT more power. and the price really depends on where you are located. i get motors pretty cheap here. but i'm in southern california where i can find parts all day for a pretty good price.

Look up hasport motor mounts, they make them specifically for swapping a B motor in. If you go to hmotors online they sell full JDM motors with transmissions for a reasonable price. Also a fuel pump out of an Integra or pick up a walbro 255 for better fuel economy.

Last you'll need an ECU to match, but if you go with OBD0 thats fairly easy to come by and cheap. If it's an OBD1 motor than your already ahead of the game and grab a p28 that matches with your transmission. Whichever you end up with make sure you grab a full wiring harness that matches. It's much easier than trying to add to what you already have.

Hasport mounts: $300
B-Series: $900-1200

I would seriously reconsider the Brown top. It's harder to find parts for and a lot weaker than the B-Series. A B16A would be great in that car, I'm running one in my hatch and it's a blast to drive.

As long as you take your time and make sure you understand what goes where you'll be ok.

Oh! Your also going to need half-shafts out of an LS and swap your hubs over to 86-89 Integra front hubs.

For a swap such as this (either motor) i would really not consider doing this yourself considering you don't know what half of the parts are. Not being a dick just don't want you to get stuck with something you cant finish and a car sitting for years. (i've seen it happen many times)

Anyway.

Motor mounts are what connect the engine and transmission to the chassis
a P28 is an ECU (Vtec)
wiring harness is the wiring for the car.

h22crxpwr is right. No offense intended but those are the basics of mechanics on your vehicle. Your hubs are what your wheels are attached to and what your axles turn. OBD0 is the first gen ecu for honda OBD1 is the next step and a lot more customization with more features.

They aren't retarded questions but if your going to do a motor swap yourself you need to do a lot of research. But I would suggest having someone that has already done a swap do it for you.

Go grab a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car and read up on it, it will give you a good idea of what's what and where that what is and what that what does

Great advice! Have a solid read of one of those and you will know your car a lot better.
i am swapping a b18c into my ef7 and I kind of jumped into it (about three years ago) not knowing a lot of what was going to be involved. Do your research and it will make things sooooo much easier. Good luck with the work ahead.
