the 2" steel block can surprisingly get extremely hot after welding the runners onto a manifold.

you need to index the cut depth from the butt of the pipe. I see you have it marked on the jig how far back to put it.

Re: AMR Coilovers

Call your Credit card company and say that you never received the goods like I did a few years ago.

Your CC company is usually pretty quick to respond.

Re: Help me improve my Tig

Correct your torch angle and don't weave the torch.

Sharp tungsten, proper torch angle and heat will all make it easier to make a nice bead on tube/round flanges.

Re: Post your best welds!!!!!!!

use more amps to melt the rod. Your purging, you can run more amps with no ill effect.

you can also move a little faster with larger rod, more amps and purge.

Might seem backwards, but weld with an on/off trigger switch and you will develop a lot of new welding techniques that a pedal will cover up.

Re: RMS Fab Billet collector

Long screamer pipes that aren't supported and non bellowed recirculating wastegate pipes are the issue with wastegate arm failure.

Nice piece though.

Re: Opinion on the welding of this Manifold

The head flange to runner welds are pretty thin. looks like the same amperage as the pipe.

needs to get ready for a hot paw and turn the welder up to something higher like 130Amps instead of 60.

Re: Newbie for fabrication forum

Get a 36 grit ceramic belt. They will last a lot longer, and cut really fast.
it takes me about 5 seconds to bevel the end of a pipe.

The rest looks good . Have fun.

Re: 97 civic rear wheel arch suggestions?

use some seam sealer on all of those seams, and then use a coating product to cover the metal. it will both seal and quiet the rocks and road debris that will hit it as well as prevent rust issue.

Yes.

Pre flow for 0.5.

Post is way longer, but depends on amperage. 5-15 seconds depending for post.

The 0.5 second pre keeps a more stable arc start (less white etching on aluminum)...
