depends on whether or not the pan will come off with the engine in the car. most likely it will. all you do it drain the oil, remove all the bolt holding it on, clean both surfaces of all old gasket...

verify that the EGR valve is fully closed at idle. if not, that will stall the engine or make it idle very erratically.

lf bearing most likely. hard to say without seeing/hearing. jack up that wheel and see if you can feel any vertical play in the bearing by pusing and pulling on the top and bottom of the tire.

if the engine is stopping, you are losing fuel and/or ignition. this still should not clear the ECU though.

maybe you have a bad ground to the ECU.

if disconnecting the battery will erase...

the preload i mentioned is for the rack guide. it has a special preload process that must be followed. it's items 4,5,6,and 8 in the top picture above.
