You should always get the main line checked for straightness. Also ,when you assemble the engine you should be able to spin the crank nice and freely by hand.

Call me dumb - but I just don't get how you can see 3* by eye. I'd imagine you could mix them up, fit them into the wrong retainers, and have a seating issue (causing this kind of failure). 3* isn't...

I'm going to flatten it down and spray a few thin coats of primer over it. I've booked a week off...
