Default Insurance on civic with turbo kit

I was wondering if my rates would go higher if I added a turbo kit to my car. The policy is liable only insurance by the way

only if you claim "accessory coverage" which you need receipts to prove. or i believe it's called "declared value" which you also need receipts to prove and you paid the extra for the value.

Liability insurance doesn't cover your car it covers the other car if you get in an accident. So no your insurance payment won't be higher.

How old are you ? How much are you guys (outside the UK) paying to insure a civic (turbo of non). I'm 27, and I'm paying close to £1000 (about 1600 USD).

Insurance doesn't care what's done to the car. So the price of your insurance wouldn't change unless you did an aftermarket parts coverage/declared value policy. In which case you'd need proof of purchase/receipts for everything done to the car

Depending on the level of modification/what you claim most run of the mill insurance companies won't cover a heavily modified vehicle and you'd have to go with a specialty company that deals solely with classic/vintage/modified vehicles.

state farm covers whats attached to the car( bolted) in fire, theft, and vandalism. in the event of an accidents, i was told from my agent to pull up ebay logs, or whatever kind of logs thats shows value of the same simliarity.

I've called and asked about the modification coverage that insurance companies provide. Even if I did the maximum amount you can claim for modifications, they won't pay out nearly the full amount if your car gets totaled. On my 99 civic, I asked to put $4500 in modifications. They did a fake claim, and they said if the car was totaled, they would only give me around $3000 total for the car and the modification coverage. I guess it's better than $2000-$2500 they would just give for the car, but I wouldn't pay extra if they won't pay out the entire modification amount that was insured.

For full coverage I pay $80 US. I have two cars with full coverage and it's only $170 with taxes.

From my previous experiences so long as you have receipts to prove what was in the car you should be able to get reimbursed for those items. Of course they won't pay full retail value, it is after all a used item at this point.

I am speaking mostly of theft coverage. Accidents are always evaluated by an adjuster who gives the wrecked car a value based on what he sees.

the only mods i can see insurance caring about, would be ABS removal, Airbag removal because these two get you discounts on your coverage.

Yeah it is. Ours has gone up a lot over the past few years (since the global recession) thanks to countless idiots putting in false injury claims... We have to pay for road tax on top of that as well. It's not added to the cost of the fuel like it is over there.
