Competiton Clutch stage 4/5 Reviews?

A full face carbon kevlar disc (non-puck style) will hold 360lbs/tq. I think CC calls that the stage 3. I've run two in my integra and while it might not hold up to drag racing launches at 7k it does fine as a DD. Barely stiffer than stock pedal pressure. Stock engagement in 1st gear.
I think it's often a very overlooked clutch for daily drivers.

As a H turbo nut...
I think the best thing for 550 hp is probably ACT extreme 6 puck sprung and 10 lb 1 piece chromoly flywheel.
I never had an issue with mine at 473 whp and 373 ft lbs of torque
I have heard good things about Spec and CC stg 5's however have heard ACT is always good stuff and possibly step up...

when my act xtr6 pressure plate crapped out on my 2 years ago i went with the comp stage 5 and upgraded pressure plate. my car makes between 300-350ftlbs depending on my bbg settings and that clutch is fantastic. holds the power, pressure on the pedal is half of what the act was and the disc is wearing evenly not like the act which would just have chunks of friction material fall off

I had an ACT HDSS in my car for 4 years and it was great for < 300ft lbs. I now have an ACT XXG6 because I didnt wanna dish out for the twin disk and its been fine too.
It seemed like hit or miss with CC clutches other then the twin disk from my research.

cc stg 5 4puck sprung here...so far I love it...I swapped from a ebay f1 stg 3 6puck sprung....this is soooo much better. the f1 was great for daily, the cc well I still stall it from time to time, really have to get on it to get going. no babing it from the red light to get going from a dead stop. it is a on off swith, my engagement zone is tiny
as for power 4-450

I've had 2 guys locally with NEW cc5 which gave them issues.
1 guy clutch slipped at 400ish tq
1 guy clutch wouldn't even engage when shifting fast.... (swapped in act and it worked fine)... maybe just defective cc5

I don't see many people talk about the Spec stage 3+ clutch. Im seriously considering this clutch for my b series. They claim 410 tq holding capacity. Its a full face carbon semi metallic sprung. Anybody use this >?

were your friends using the regular or upgraded pressure plate?(and honestly 410wtq is pretty high for a single plate on a vtec motor thats probably close to 700whp)

Well I had Tom @ IPG talk to CC yesterday and they said their PP are the same between the stage 4 and 5 and only the disk is different.

I broke in my CC4 at the same time I broke in a new built engine. I shifted like a grandmother for the first while, but I was kind of beating on the new engine so that the rings would seat. The chatter was only an issue for the first 50-100 miles and went away entirely after that

I had a stage 4 CC on a stock h22 which lasted 2 months. On my old turbo GSR I went through 3 CC clutches. A stage 4 which lasted 1 month. A stage 5 lasted 2 weeks and a stage 5 Iron Man lasted 1 pass at the track. Car made 400hp I then put in an Exedy twin disc and all of my problems disappeared. Best clutch ever! As for CC I will never buy it again, total junk.

I've ran the ACT extream (stiffest pressure plate I've ever drove). Six puck wore by friction material falling off in chuncks. Got to where I was getting locked out of gears and pulled tranny to notice disc was shot.
Then I went to a CC stage 4/5 six puck with upgraded PP. The upgraded PP broke on a 7k launch on slicks. While it still functioned the rattle was horrible and upon removing the PP I noticed the rivets had busted loose.
Now I'm on the standard pressure plate and full face disc from CC. 550hp/360tq all day and you don't have to deal with the shitty puck engagement in 1st or even the stiff pressure plate.

Re: Competiton Clutch stage 4/5 Reviews?
Stage 2-5 Pressure Plates are all the same (1900lb). The difference is the discs. I've personally have had the 4 and the 6 puck at 560whp/405ft. The 4 puck came out with chunks missing after 3k miles. The 6 puck came out with no chunks missing and lots of life left after 5k miles. Neither of them slipped once. Drive ability was awesome. I wouldn't mind dd with that clutch. Pedals not too stiff and no clutch chatter.
I have also seen my buddies car make 40-50 mid to low 10 second passes with the 6 puck and extreme pressure plate before it started slipping.

Makes me wonder why they didn't mention the extreme plate to Tom when he called. Oh well, I think I will be haply with the standard plate. I ordered an Exedy 21lbs OEM replacement flywheel as well. Hoping it helps with driveability

Re: Competiton Clutch stage 4/5 Reviews?
thanks for everyone who replied. I installed the clutch today and man, i dont see how anyone would think this clutch is stiff or not DD friendly. The pedal is barely stiffer than stock and the engagement is incredibly smooth. Feels like a street car again. Now to get through the break in period and see how it holds.
I upgraded to a RSX shifter box and Ktuned street cables over the 4th gen prelude shifter and cables. 50x smoother engagement and shifter motion.
very happy with both purchases.
