Also, should I adjust the idle before setting timing? Even with the 16v head it idled at 850-1000. I cleaned the EACV and it was still higher than spec. Would the ECU have anything to do with it?

I just replaced the injector o-rings on mine and it fires up faster. If yours takes a couple turns it should help that too

try cleaning the pcv valve. It goes from the valve cover by the distributor to the intake. Just take the hose off by the valve cover side and spray some brakleen in there and you'll feel air blowing...

yeah i would go with putting new speaker cloth over the whole thing, or getting new speakers that will fit it and have their own cover, i can't stand the stock speakers even with a new head unit
