Re: replaced valve cover gasket, sitll leaking oil

OK just going to revive this ancient thread. The mechanic was likely taking about the seals at the bottom of the plug tube's on some cars. Yes you have to remove most of the valve train to replace...

Re: 95 honda accord..... is the front rotors held on with screws??? or the dam bolts

Yes it's an old thread...
Remove knuckle as noted above.
Get 2 bolts that are longer than the bolts that hold the bearing/hub to the knuckle, put the knuckle snugly in a vise, insert those bolts...

Re: Tie rod/Alignment

No because the part can (and often will) still be a different length even though the number of threads is the same.

Re: Accord Tie rod question?

What a scary question. I know it's an old post. Hope you're not on the road with people's kids.

Re: Methods to stop coolant leak from water pump weep hole

Buy the water pump at least from the honda dealer. The aftermarket are crap. You don't want to re-do this. Use a proper torque wrench and torque the bolts to spec.

Re: B20vtec which HG to use?

The bad cylinder(s) will be pretty apparent (clean).
Get a precision straightedge and check the cylinder sleeves at the top of the block. They tend to get corrosion and leak. It will look like a...

Re: 99 honda accord front end weaves and play in both front whhels

I had an upper ball joint (passenger) that moved like an inch. Easy to move with the wheel off the ground. Pretty alarming. Promptly replaced both upper arms and it drives like a new car.

Re: Haspecialist.com/Lab Junkies/Honda Lab/The Lab -- Avoid this San Bernadino shop

I had a shop install a headgasket for D15Y3 in my D15B7. Runs fine after 100k. Prolly same part.

I think a D16Y8 uses a MLS gasket (metal layers) and requires a head flat to .001 spec. and an...

Re: STAY AWAY: Precision Collision Auto Body: Orange, CA

Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) is who they really fear. They license auto repair shops.

Re: Moving to Cali with Del Sol. Smog Question

My Del Sol cat worked until about 200k then failed smog (the smog guy told me it was probably the cat). I then had to replace it. I bought a bolt in one from summit racing website that was CA legal...

Re: Looking for a machine shop in hesperia applevalley victorville high desert area.

I've used Arringdales with great results. 100k on my D15B7 and still going strong. I plan to be a repeat customer.

Re: 95 accord overheating/ fan issue

I would do a block test and cooling system pressure test before spending any money on parts. Was the coolant low? Maybe you need a new radiator cap or put some clamps on the overflow tube.

re: 93 Civic - Knocking Noise when braking and accelerating (solved)

Definitely inspect the caliper with the rotor wear. Make sure it is clean where the pads seat, the caliper mounting pins are not bent, cleaned and lubed and slide freely. I've also heard of a botched...

Re: 1996 temp gauge rising

Grab your fan blade and see if the shaft wiggles (you may want to d/c the connector for safety). The shaft bushing on my fan was completely worn into an oval, slowing the fan speed enough to let the...

Re: Motor oil weight recommendation for 400k plus 1990 accord

Use the same weight oil recommended in the owners manual. Use synthetic. Leaks and overheating require repair not different oil.

Re: Honda civic si vibration

I would take a look at the crank pulley while the engine is running. Also, you may just need to loosen and retighten all the mounts to let them align properly. I believe there is a procedure for this...

Re: Replacing the rear wheel hub bearing??

You are correct, fastener lubrication is determined by the service manual. I stand by my wrench testing method. If one reads off from the other calibration is warranted. The chance of both wrenches...

Re: Replacing the rear wheel hub bearing??

I hook my click type torque wrench to my dial type wrench. If the one clicks when the other reads the correct value, I figure I'm good. Also, I'm pretty sure they recommend a light coating of oil on...
