air filter is a good cheap next step ... make sure you don't just pop the cover off and look at the top of it, the bottom is the dirty part

So this is getting ridiculous, I can barely push the button with two hands.... I'm thinking of pulling off the shift knob and oiling something inside ... not sure what harmful effects this could...

check for a light on the amp (i assume it has one) check your fuse under the hood ... check your ground wire connection ... check your RCA's .... check your lead wire ... could be a bunch of things,...
