Having done these repairs myself, my best advice is to cut at least 1/2" more metal than you think you need to. Then build your patches and weld them in. apply seam sealer after and you're good to...

The turbo will help keep the noise down little as they function as a muffler. The Vibrant stealth is reasonably quiet as long as its used with a resonator.

Sparks to me would indicate some sort of contact between moving parts.or an uneven fuel mixture. Was there a gasket between the turbo and downpipe?

Are the rear springs broken? HPPMike makes some great suggestions. Get the car up in the air and check for any abnormal amounts of play, or worn/broken bushings
