New uncommon swap, figured it was time I became a member
Long time reader, first time member. I've been in the "honda game" for over a decade. I've had everything from EF hatches, EG coupes, EG hatches, and my favorite vehicle that I ever owned, my dc2 Integra. I am personally more fond of B series engines, particularly b18s (b1s, c1s, & of course c5s). With my love of the b18s I've never really done much of anything with a D series other pull them out so I can B swap the car, which has seriously hindered my knowledge and skills when it comes to D series (unless you wanna know how to rip one out lol). Hindering myself in the D series category has offically bit me in the *** now that I have a 1993 Del Sol Si with a JDM DOHC D16ZC swap. I purchased the car with the swap "half" done and what was done was done half-assed so I'm currently trying to unf*ck what was done poorly. This is my first Del Sol, first JDM engine, and definitely my first ZC, and so far it's caused me nothing but headaches and hours of frustration looking for parts that appear to be quite difficult to find lol. I hope some of my fellow Honda peeps out there will be able to help me with some info over the course of this project because I know I'm damn sure gonna need it lol.

Sounds like the solution is getting experienced in taking out a dohc zc out and putting a b or k in there.

I can do that no problem lol. Im only looking to keep the zc for a while because its something that isnt very common at all where i live, and I like being different lol

Your gonna feel really different when you try to find parts lol. Id take it out and put anything else in there, a single cam would be a better option then that, parts with be easier to find and its different because no one is really using single cams anymore. Everything is b,k,j series. even selling that motor is prob gonna be a big problem because no one wants it.

Oh I've felt differently lol but I'm not giving up. I've built just about everything else i can/would want to. This is something new and it's holding my interest. I have a built b18b and a freshly rebuilt z6 standing by as backups for my different cars. But like I said, this zc is holding my interest because its sort of challenging.

Challenging i understand. but the real question is after building it will you be satisfied with the outcome. What kind of issues are you currently having with it? I have a jdm b18c5 in my eg and it made 200whp, i feel satisfied with it becuase it just has bolt ons. A zc with a bunch of money into it prob wont get close to that unless you dump a bunch of money into ( nitrous or boost ) i had a crx with a zc in it in 2006 and it sucked.

I don't need nor want the fastest of the best right now. I've grown out of that for the most part. I get bored building common swaps, boosting them, etc etc, this is something new for me and I'm enjoying it.

I know ill end up yanking it out when im done and putting something better and faster in it, but I want to accomplish a solid running basic zc build first. Just to be able to say ive done it.

The ZC is actually a great engine. Its as solid as an LS, the only real issue I ever had with them was trying to figure out which parts to use. The first gen integer, or EF civic, or EG civic seem to share a lot of parts with the ZC, but trying to sort it all out is a royal PITA. Also, they like to go through distributors like crazy, so always have a known good spare with you.

I've heard similar info about the zc. I'm VERY fond of an LS so i figured this zc would be something different that will keep my interest. But you aren't lying when it comes to having a hard time finding parts for it or what parts are interchangeable, depending on which gen zc you have.

Body looks like its pretty good condition, Looks like you gotta set the timing, and check that compression. See where it stands mechanically. Looks like everything is there. Just gotta get it started now.

Thanks exactly it now lol. Needs a paint job but the body is damn near perfect (at least I got lucky on that perspective)
