The collar is the piece that is tightened. Sleeves are free to rotate when the springs aren't compressed (ie when the car is jacked up and the suspension is hanging). Just remove the coilover...

I have a yonaka catback on my ek hatch. FWIW, with the music on normal volume, I don't notice the exhaust noise; and I only utilize the 2 front speakers :D

The block doesn't look bad. If you run your fingernails across the scuff, does it catch? Its hard to tell from the pix but there seems to be some light dmg...

You don't "have to" remove the whole trailing arm to do the swap; its just easier to swap the whole trailing arm vs individual components. Swapping the spindles would be be a cinch if not for those...

Aftermarket retainers? I can only imagine what the other side of the head looks like. Pull the head off and take a look at the valve seats & compression chamber.

For the sake of simplicity, you just need the complete trailing arms from a dc teg or em1 civic along with the ebrake cable. You can reuse your rear upper and lower arms from your ek civic.

ASR brace & bar will be 2/3 the price of an entry coilover system (Progress CS2 @ $600 shipped). You'll get more bang out of your buck w/ coilovers as your first suspension mod than the rear sway...

whoa..good eye. Edited to say EM1 (SI) instead of EX. thx. Certain 96-00 civics models came with a 40/40 prop valve. So depending on which model you have, you might not need to pick up the prop...

1. Complete DC2 or Civic EM1 rear trailing arms w/ Calipers, rotors, and ebrake mechanism. You can use ur stock TA and just move the components over, but i've found it to be much easier to swap...

If the clutch is not disengaging, then you would be grinding on all gears. This sounds like a 3rd gear syncho/sleeve, and/or dog teeth issue. Does it grind if you do a double clutch shift?
