Default anyone know any good coilovers for a del Sol ?

Hi. New to HT so yeah, ha. (: I need some decent coilovers for my '93 del Sol S, some that wont set me back too far. around $500-700.. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna slam my car and I want to get the best quality and the smoothest ride. I know being slammed is not gonna be super smooth, but just as smooth as it can be. (:

You have a lot of reading up to do.... I want to be super slammed and the car to ride amazing and I don't want it to set me back to far.

It just doesn't work like that man. Here is the realism: you want it super slammed, its gonna ride like super $hit...no matter how much you choose to spend.

For 5-7 I'd imagine the slammed guys will tell you to run w/ FF1's.

No no bud don't misunderstand...I'm not flaming you in any way. I'm being serious...if you want a slammed car the FF1's are the way to go as they'll get you the lowest.

If you want a good looking drop that will handle well and be of comfort spend your money on Progress CSII's which are in the 600 range'ish (give or take $20-30)

At the very least I only ask that you read a whole lot prior to actually pulling the trigger on any product at all.... you'll find that being slammed is a bad idea, and that Progress is your best bet if at your price range if you choose to have a car that handles well.

Its not easy to come up on money bro...spend it wisely.

Ps- there is a couple of "stickys" at the top of this thread that will pretty much cap everything off for you...everything will make perfect sense if your willing to take the time to read it man.

Being slammed won't be comfy, and it wont be smooth. Noithing you can do about that, other than pull 10k out and go get motions.

The lower you go, the heighier spring rates you need. Which is what really kills the ride.

For your budget, and wanting to be slammed the FF1 will work fine. However, if you can spend just 150 more, you can have a far suprior setup. Which is Koni/GC.

Smooth ride -> lower spring rates -> higher ride height
Lower ride height (slammed)-> higher spring rate -> harsher ride

Pick where you want to be and get a setup that matches your goals, but keep in mind the tradeoffs you're making. While comfort is a subjective topic, a spring rate over 250 lb/in will have a noticeable diminish in comfort (especially over small speed bumps/pot holes).

Yes, Koni/gc are very capable of slamming the car.

You'll want to get extended top hats for at least the front, and possibly the rear depending on your definition of slammed.

And 550lbs front and 400lbs rear at least for rates.

If you're slammed and don't have much stiffer rates you'll be banging your upper arms and bottoming out your shocks all over the place.
