Default Need help finishing K20 build!

I race in the CCTCC (www.touringcar.ca) and we are very limited to what we can do to the K-Series!

What I have so far:
- Blue printed and balance k20a2 block with 86.25mm OE pistons and Carrillo Rods.
- My head is sent off to Endyn to receive a grand am cup treatment
- I'm running a Type S gearbox with a 5.06:1 FD (Because I can only change the FD and not the gears)...we run 205-15-50s for R888

Because if this final drive, I will need to spin the motor to 9000rpm...Q1 what do I do for the OIL Pump?????
Q2 Which OE Cams should I use?????

Thanks

You might also want to ask this in the All-Motor K-series subforum. We do have a few people who can answer this here though, hopefully they'll chime in.

I've personally had good sucess with the ERL s2000 oil pump kit.

The OE cam that I would personally use is just the basic K20A intake and exhaust cam.

Q1- From my experience I would recommend an ERL modified S2000 pump if your rules allow that.If it has to be unmodified OEM as in the series I run, then a Type-S/R pump would work fine, though it has been known to cavitate around 9200rpm so limit your revs. The BTCC Type-R civics/integras limit their K20's to 8500rpm on the upshift and 9000 on the downshift fyi.

Q2- For a 2L race engine the JDM DC5R cams are very good and probably the better ones to get,the USD '06 Civic SI cams are the same with a revised centerline. Some recommend to use TSX cams on a 2 liter as well, though after my own testing,I made the most power with stock JDM Type R cams in my Type R engine.

Hope this helps

Thanks Guys!!!!

I don't have as much experiences with the Ks as I do with the Bs!!!

I blew the only k20a2 motor I had, it had a bent #4 rod due to oil starvation...Had Hytech baffled Oil Pan, only used Motul 300V and didn't burn any oil but, I reved it to 8600rpm!

you should wait for the new rules to come out .. you won't be allowed the rods, head work .. maybe even the fd.

buy an accusump, they aren't that expensive .. even with mine and a baffled pan my oil pressure dropped into the 20's for split seconds on some tracks

ERL S2000 modified oil pump.

K20A cams.

You can run those pistons and rods? Surprised if you can. ENDYN? I havent heard much from that guy in a while.

What are you rules for valve train?

For 9000RPM, you WILL need an upgraded timing chain tensioner. Stay away from TODA. I had one, less than 30 miles on my new engine and the ****er seized. Go with http://www.hybrid-racing.com/store/i...s-engines.html

hahaha Nigel, you didn't read this lol I also have a 4.764:1 Fd and OE Rods with some ARP bolts....as for the head work, it's pretty much fixing one combustion chamber and performing Grand Am Cup legal minor headwork (valve seats, balance the cc volume from chamber to chamber...minor stuff that's no where close to those Durabond motors that spin to 9500rpm lol)

I want to motor to be efficient and the only one I put in there for the season!

I will look into the tensioner for sure....as for the accusump, I will have to check if that's alowed!!!

Cheers
