Is it worth to do a H Series swap?

Re: Is it worth to do a H Series swap?
ive done 2 f20b swaps, one into a 93 prelude, and one into a 98. I would highly recommend that swap, the motor can be had for about $1k. But, if you are paying 1k for the head, block, trans, and all those accessories, Id say thats a steal! go for it!

I got my COMPLETE motor, trans, shifter and cables and swap axles 1300. 200hp 160tq compared to a torqueless bseries with barely 150hp for just about the same price you'd be stupid not to take it. plus all the upgrades you'll need to even get to 200hp lol

Re: Is it worth to do a H Series swap?
I personally have a h22a swap in my hatch and i use hasport axles and mount and have yet to have any problems regarding the small amount of cutting for the trans mount and shifter area. I don't understand how you people justify how the h series complete swap is bad. A h of f series trans have no pros and cons compared to a b series. People prefer the b series for their gearing. Make it simple and put a 5.15 mfactory FD in it and call it a day! LOL. And the whole frm sleeve situation is a flop too. in stock form and mildly boosted they have no issues, if you refer to runnin HIGH boost then any and all the honda motors would need aftermarket sleeves.
Long story short, dont knock it til you try it. I have had 2 h22 swapped EH hatches and neither had any issues.
h2b is over rated i am sorry, flame me if you want but everyone needs to get off the band wagon and do their own thing seriously

f20b lacks tq. senseless to install that in a heavy accord or prelude. In a civic it would be better than stock but for the extra few rpms you gain you just lost a bit of tq...

Re: Is it worth to do a H Series swap?
I know this thread is a little dated but I'd like to add some info regarding the h22. The firm sleeves are a Fiber Reinforced Metal that is extremely hard and extremely durable. So durable in fact that it tends to wear the oil rings down on the pistons around about 200,000 mi. But who wants to run a car hard with 200,000 mi anyway? I don't know why Honda insisted on continuing to use these sleeves.
The the b21a1 from a 3rd gen prelude was kind of like a guinea pig for these liners. After seeing they chewed up the oil rings, it's a wonder why they still used them in the NSX, later preludes, and s2000. There must be some advantage I don't see.
There's nothing wrong with the motor, it's a great motor. But just be aware that as the motor ages, it will need to be rebuilt or you'll have to feed it oil. I hope to do this swap in the future as well.

Re: Is it worth to do a H Series swap?
And one other issue nobody has stated yet is that all H-series have very low sitting oil pans compared to any other series. I have had a few buddy's who have cracked oil pans and even shattered them due to the fact that they sit rather low. Just some other info to take into consideration with the swap, but i've driven a H-swap civic and i love it TBH. but the b-series is just more common and cheaper it seems due to the fact that parts are just all over the market for them because everyone is all over the b-series band wagon. but either way i would give you a thumbs up on the H22 swap

I'm also confused about the oilpan issue? How is it lower than the exhaust?
The swap is well worth the minimal effort a reasonably mechanically inclined person can craft. It is really the tedious little things about this swap that tend to add up, like who can make me a power steering hose for the high side and radiator capacity is not up to par for 200hp+ summer driving, electrical wiring upgrades (resistor box), will you still want to use cruise control, etc..
All of which can be achieved with some patience, it won't happen in a weekend. Though, you wil have what most B series owners wish or pretend to have, 200hp and no money in anything inside the motor. Also, I swapped an H22 (JDM) into my 92 Accord with minimal motor upgrades. When I drop the hammer and downshift to 3rd gear for some guy trying to pass me going 80mph ; the sound these Hs make when their all lit up is AWESOME!
