silencers and resonators
I just entered into autocross, but I feel my exhaust is way to loud for the 95db and would like to quiet it down. I have a resonator that is a 22'' but I think its broken (as I just had some leaks welded and now sounds very raspy) so first I am going to replace it. Is anyone here using the flowmaster hushpower II resonator? Also is it possible to put a silencer in a magnaflow exhaust or a apexi wsII?

Re: silencers and resonators (lude1888)
There's no silencers available for those, it will cut down on the performance too. There was some dyno testing on a site showing the loss of hp by adding a silencer.
Fixing that resonator should clean some stuff up.

if i remember right, a resonator just changes the tone/pitch, and a muffler is what actually quiets down the exhaust. also exhaust pipe diameter affects the loudness as well. try to find a quieter muffler, or try a 2.25" exhaust rather than the typical 2.5".
oh and a silencer = less flow = less TOP END power. i'm in the midrange most of the time anyways, so you shouldn't worry about the highest output performance muffler. check out vibrant and ES tuning mufflers.

Re: silencers and resonators (lude1888)
losing power doesn't matter to me if I can race. Will the hushpower resonator fit on a 4th gen or is the casing too big?
I would buy another muffler or cat-back, but I already have a brand new magnaflow and apexi wsII

Thanks I just checked out vibrant and they have these mufflers that look like resonators will this work or will it be too much with the muffler I already have?

Re: (honda_andy)
Yes I'm sorry I have DC-S headers, a high flow cat, resonator, 2 1/4'' piping, and a magnaflow muffler. Could I have a bad resonator?

Re: (cb7-R)
Thanks I think I am going to start at replacing the bad resonator probably for the ultra quiet from vibrant or the hushpower II by flowmaster.
MY question is will the hushpower fit with dimensions of :
4" X 5.50" " X 18" - 24" Overall Length
