Map sensor problem and idle is bad!
I have a h22a 5-speed. I'm getting a Code 3 from my ECU and that's my Map sensor. My car was stolen so I had to buy another intake, header, and spark plug wires. I did have a VAFC too, but it was taken as well. After replacing the intake, header, and spark plug wires, my idle was to ****. The RPM drops to zero every time I threw it into neutral. So I checked my plugs and MAP sensor and resetted the ECU. Now my car idles fine. BUT NOW when I'm at a stop and I go, from about 1k to around 2.5k RPM, my car barely moves and it feels very weak. When it finally comes up to about 3k RPM, it feels like a turbo kicking in.. like it goes from shitty feeling to the feeling of normal acceleration. Eh, it's hard to explain the feeling. I don't think my clutch is slipping. Could it be that the spark plug wires are in the wrong order?
Another thing, when my car WAS idling like crap.. when it was dropping towards zero, I pressed the gas to prevent it from stalling and when I did that, it stalled anyway and right when it stalled, I heard a loud poof of air, like something popped off. I popped the hood to see if any caps or hoses flew off, but I didn't see anything. I'm not sure if I'm not looking hard enough? But it was loud. I hear air swooshing when my car is at idle, I think and hope it's just my intake, but I don't know

the VAFC is normally hardwired into the wiring harness inside the car. Pull it out and inspect the wiring. The purpose of the VAFC is to manipulate the map sensor signals so the ecu thinks more or less air is entering the throttle body and thus giving more or less fuel and ignition so therefore it must be wired to the map sensor pin going into the ecu.

your map sensor is pin D3. make sure there are no breaks in the wire and repair what damage you see, if you can do it correctly.
The VAFC also interupts the vtec signal (A8), power source (A11 or A24), ground (A10), RPM signal - ICM (A20), Throttle position (D1), vtec pressure switch (C15).
check each of those for breaks in the wires and repair as necessary with solder and heat shrink.
EDIT:
Crap, i just realized you are likely OBDI

wired into the same parts, they are just located in different spots.

if it doesnt idle its you tps. had the same problem. changed my throttle bouy out with an skunk2 60mm which is basically stock. but now i have a misfire so i messed something up. disconnect you tps from you tb and if it stalls out you tps is bad need to get a new tb.
