H23A1 crankshaft pulley bolt!
silly question but which way does this loosen? I know I know, but thought better safe than sorry! I've read online the honda engines with the timing belt on the left side loosen clockwise and my 96 prelude si has the timing belt on the left side so...?
Also if I put the transmission in 1st gear will it hold the engine while I try to loosen the crankshaft bolt or do I really have to just get the special holder for these engines?
thanks in advance,

Re: H23A1 crankshaft pulley bolt!
yeah, if it's the opposite way it's usually marked/labeled with an arrow indicating it.
So for the crank pulley, it's still righty tighty, lefty loosey. otherwise i'm surprised my crank never spun the pulley off ( i just impacted the bolt on)

The threads on the crankshaft pulley bolt are normal right handed threads. I would purchase the special crankshaft pulley holder.....I never had luck by putting the transmission in 5th and trying the break the bolt loose....too much give in the whole system.
