Hi, I have tje surging idle problem too. When I plug the hole on my SCAT Alpha throttle body, the surging stops. There is no FITV on this TB. Everything else on your troubleshooting guide has been done. What can I do to make this problem go away. Even something to do a quick remedy will help.
Thanks
Eric

Re: THE END OF ALL Idle Surge - Bounce - etc Problems Thread
Hello dear Honda Fans and users. I have the same idle problem and its killing my brains for a long time.
Well i will start from beginning. I have honda accord coupe 1999. 2.0 engine f20b5. 5 speed manual gear box. Problem started after i have replaced iacv gasket, because my one was leaking. So i have removed top of the intake manifold and cleaned it out. Cleaned the iacv with tb cleaner. Replaced the tb gasket. Iacv and tb gaskets was bought from Honda dealer and its oem. The metal gasket on the top cover of intake manifold wasin good condition so i didnt replace it on the first time. So i have cleaned all the parts and putted it all back. And the magic started. When engine is cold its started up good and works fine. After car warms up completely and im driving for example on 3 gear at 2300 and try to change a gear on 4 gear, in that moment when i push clutch and release the gas pedal rpms goas to 2500 and after that goas down. They just goas +100 or +200 no matter how i drive( only when hot car). Again reassembled all the parts i have removed for the first time and putted a good sealant on the intake manifold cover metal gasket, i was thinking that maybee some vacuum leak because of the old gasket. Putted all back together. Nothing, same thing. Found used iacv, removed my old one, putted the new one(used). Now my idle drops down every time im going on neutral, allmost every time. Then goas down and puts up to the normal position. Found the remanufactured iacv on ebay, replaced. All problems allmost gone( if ill try to change gear before 2000rpm its still goas up on+100+200 rpm, but because i dont drive like this its not a big deal after 2000rpm the problem is gone). But some times its still drops down for no reason. I have some fealing that when my car is on a half warmed up the idle is low and the car vibrates a little, when hot everything is ok no vibration nothing.
TB clean and i have didnt removed tps sensor, didnt screw any screws on TB. When i was cleaning tb and replaced the oem tb gasket i unscrewed the idle screw on top of the tb. Cleaned it all up and putted it exactly on the same pleace and position it was from beginning( 1/2 anticlockwise from the closed position). The screw was cleaned over a year ago for the first time when i was changed engine because my old one was allmost dead, old eating and other stuff. So it was better to find a new used one in good condition. So we did all the works and putted the other engine in my car. I was driving like that for a 1 year and everithing was fine. Its all started after i replaced that shitty gasket of iacv.
Checked everything for vacuum leaks and found nothing.
If i remove 3pin connector from IACV valve the car idle starts to goas up and down from 1000 to 1200 rpm constantly and check engine goas on.
Valves was adjusted about 6 monts ago for a second tume. Firs time was on the new engine. Second time half year after driving on new engine.
Any ideas? For now im waiting for new iacv from ebay. The oem is 280euro and thats still no warranty that problem is in the iacv. Done the diagnostic, everything in the car is working fine, sensors is fine, lambda works fine. Whatta hell is with this car, because this problem is killing my head

Thanks for this post. According to the steps, I have a bad IACV. My question is since my car is 24 years old and I assume the IACV is the original one. should I just replace the FITV while I am it? seems like they probably are the same age and if the fitv can cause the same issue...

Re: THE END OF ALL Idle Surge - Bounce - etc Problems Thread
Hi All,
I just need verification. As I stated before I followed the trouble shooting steps and had deduced that I had a bad IACV. So today I went to change out the IACV and realized that when I was trouble shooting I was not unplugging the IACV but I was unplugging the TPS (which is the plug right next to the IACV.) so unplugging the TPS stopped the issue.
now forgive me for stating the obvious but I am assuming that means the TPS is bad. I have read that it’s just easier to get a rebuilt throttle body than to drill out the bad tps and realign a new one. Keep in mind I have some mechanical
skills but I’d rather spend more money on a sure thing than risking making things worse on my own.
