Default Cold weather I have to jump the starter solenoid to get it started, how to fix?

Now that the weather has been colder my car will not start in the early morning but starts up fine around noon.

I tried tapping the starter - that didn't work.

I jumped the started solinoid while turning the key and that starts the car up.

So what can i do to fix this?

Does it click at all when you turn the key? If it does, you might not have enough power to turn the starter. The starter is throwing but not turning. If your battery doesn't have enough cold cranking amps, I could see this happening. If you do, then I'd say solenoid. Wait to see what some more people say before you buy a new one, though.

You don't have to turn the key when you're jumping the solenoid. You can just have the key in the "ON" position.

check on the battery, it should tell you how much cold cranking amps your battery has. I think on the battery it'll list as CCA.

check your battery like everyone said, but then if you have time take the starter out and bring it to autozone .. they have a tester to see if your starter solenoid is still working well

im having the same problem, the car doesnt crank and will not start at all early in the morning, but a little later in the day if i pull on the fusebox while turning key over it will start. its like the starter wire isnt hooked up, ive talked to oraginal about this problem because we both have viper 791xv's on our cars, a lot of people say that one of the components in the alarm may be bad, possibly the starter kill or brain itself, one source at honda said it could be the main relay.

That sounds like a bad connection.

That's me i have the viper alarm, but the alarm place said it couldn't be the alarm b/c they can only change the crank time so if my car wasn't cranking then that is not the problem. So i am not sure if that is true at the moment or not.

I just bought a brand new battery and that is not fixing this issue, the Cold cranking amps are fine. It's gotta be something with the solenoid, i guess i need more info of how the whole process of a car starts.

any info or places to look for info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

any alarm place will say they aren't the problem.

I had a lot of problems after CKR in Montgomery, AL installed an alarm on my car. After a month of troubleshooting, I took off my dash and ran down wiring. They had left open wires in a few places. They didn't crimp the connections correctly either. I'd check for myself if I were you.

Check all of your ground wires as well?

are you talking about the alarms grounds? theres only one on most alarms, the alarm wouldnt be working at all if it was a grounding issue. im going to cut out my starter kill relay today and see if my problem continues, if so i think it may be the cars main relay, but i find it hard to believe its not the alarm if a few people are having the same problem.

dont believe everything this install shop says, they may not even be troubleshooting it. i would set up an appointment to see if they can check out your alarm, most shops know what there doing and if its not the alarm then there gonna know where to look next. they may charge you if its not the alarm but at least you know your closer to fixing the problem.

It's around 32F here in maryland right now. When I turn the key, all I hear is clicking, but the engine doesn't turn. New battery?

sounds like a battery problem to me...not enough cold cranking amps. If it warms up, your battery will probably be okay.
