rear tire/susspension loose, tire wear..
today i rode, and noticed the rear end felt loose.. almost felt like a weird head shake, but from the rear tire. i haven't checked my rear air pressure, but i did notice the center tread was very shaved..
hard to explain, cuz i dont know what to call it, but like if your hitting some good twisties and you get that scrubbed rubber look... like pencil eraser shavings... well, thats on the center tread. and i wasn't going all that fast, or doing some crazy wheelies or anything..
any one have any idea's to whats going on? i noticed it twice on the freeway, and my commute was about 20 mins long. it felt like a big gust of wind hit only the rear wheel.. but it wasn't windy.
i haven't ridden for about a week, and today was the 1st day back, and this is whats going on.. so any ideas? would a loose chain do this? tire pressures? mis-aligned rear wheel?

i would bet its air pressure. It happened to me and I was wondering WTF was going on only to find out there was only like 10 psi in the rear tire.

ok..
the bike is a 2004 CBR F4i. im running pilot powers. and my tire pressure was 34/38.
i looked over the obvious and found the chain was really out of adjustment. when i held the bottom chain, and pressed it against the swing arm, i could lay about 4 or 5 chain links against the guide.. spec is 1" play.. it was way out.
my only guess was that since the chain was soo out of spec, and i only got weird bike handling was on the freeway in throttle.. that since there was soo much slack, when you let of the throttle, or bump it.. the reaction to the chain slack would vibrate, or counter act the rotating mass, and give the rear tire weird wear, and a weird shimmy.
anyways.. i rode to work, 20 miles each way, and it feels normal. if anything changes, or i have more problems, i'll report to you guys.

Was gonna mention this before but kinda sounded like your rear axel was loose and going side to side causing that wear on the center but it seems like now you got a handle on it.

Ya, I would normally agree that this could have been a cause, but having seen how well the spacers work in aligning the rear wheel, I would rule that out.

yeah, i had noticed the last time i cleaned the chain, it was alittle loose.. had no idea it was that bad.
visually the chain doens't look discolored, or damaged, and the sprocket looks fine as well.
she just turned 11K, and before the next track event, i plan on going with a 520 kit.. either way, proper adjustment seams to solve my problem.
