'04 Fireblade-Cali model identification?
Hi guys, im picking up a '04 1000RR tomorrow and it so happens it was imported to this country from the good 'ol US of A, maybe belonged to one of you wheelie merchants at one point!
anyways, a friend told me to verify that it was not originally produced for the State of California, meaning it would have countless alterations to meet with their emissions laws, resulting in less available power.
I dont know how much of this may be true, but if so, how can i tell if the blade was Californian? is it like all frame numbers between xxx000100 and xxx005100 etc? or is there going to be a huge orange sticker somewhere, and California emissions data on the VIN tag?
i'll be sure to have a good look at the documents but any help is appreciated! (pref. before i buy it tomorrow!!)

Is there still a 49 state and people's republic of California model differentiation? Is there any real difference other than the CARB sticker? I seem remember the only real difference was the extra weight for the evaporative system for the charcoal canister but that was with my '87 Hurricane and it has been more than a decade since I've lived in that market.

A friend of mine reckons theres lots of differences in the GSXR1000 Cali/non cali models. I think he mentioned fuel tank and/or pump, and throttle bodies

It may be down a few HP, but I'd imagine you can strip the emissions stuff fairly easy and make it a 49 state bike. If you haven't already, check out this thread and search the forum for california stuff:

Well, California or not, i could'nt leave this thing behind today! its clean as a whistle, looks beautiful, and the acceleration feels ballistic!!! i got a good deal on it.
(the seat cowl is ebay and looks terrible, i put on the honda seat the minute i got home
Im not sure if its down in power, its plenty more than my 600RR. Crazy fast,
but i did find this under passenger seat, it really blended in with the stock look of the bike so only saw it when i was home:
what do you guys make of it? i must find out the petrol RON around here locally because this sticker specifies 95...
EDIT: sticker specifies 95 ron minimum, so i should be ok

Not a Cali bike, so u should be fine...Cali bike will state "This vehicle conforms to California EPA regulation"..or something like that..also it would state 91 octane
