Default Electrical problem

So far this has happened twice with about 3 weeks in between. First time a rider in a group ride wrecked. I killed my bike ran back to see if he was ok. Off the bike for about 5-10 mins and knew I had left my key on. Went back turned it off. About 2 hours later went to start it and no workey. Turned over a couple times and died.

Then last night got off my bike for about 10 minutes again. Went to start it and again turned over and it was dead. As far as trouble shooting. I checked the brights and revved up the motor. The lights did get brighter when doing so. Any ideas? Every other time it starts just fine. Don't really have any issues while riding either. BTW it's a 01 929RR.

I'm not certain if your 929 is affected but some Honda's have had issues with their regulator/rectifier units which might cause your battery not to charge fully.

How did you fix it last time? Did you charge the battery @ home and it worked after that?

Other than the R/R, an old or discharged battery will do it too. If I park one of the bikes off the tender for too long, when I try to start it, it may crank but won't start.

not really sure on how old the battery is. it was on and when i got it about 2 months ago.

i'm gonna go get the battery tested tomorrow and try to do some more trouble shooting.

you know i heard something about that regulator that may in fact be it. it started working as it normally would. just rode it back home and i guess the alternator charged it up.

thanks for your input. i'll post again after i do some more trouble shooting.
