Jump Start 2019
Hello all, I have a 2019 Honda Fit. Working from home lately I haven't started my car much. Well I went to try today and of course.. it won't turn over. Being as cold as it has been I knew I should have at least turned it on a few times a week but didn't. Anyway.. I have a Stanley Fatmax 700 Peak Battery Amps, 350 AMP instant Jump-Starter in my garage. My question is.. when jump starting I've seen two different pieces of information. One says to connect the jump starter just to the red and the black is grounded on the car somewhere (metal peg)... Two I've seen where you can plug the red and black on the battery and that works as well. If I understand correctly, I am supposed to have them connected or one connected, turn the battery pack to on.. wait a few minutes and then try and start my car. Then if it starts, turn off the battery pack.. remove the black and then red.. again assuming I am supposed to use both? Just wondering if that is correct? Use both connectors or just 1 on the red? I am not jumping from another car.. just the battery pack.
Thank you.
Thank you.

The engine and car is grounded through the metal body back to the ground cable of the battery therefore you can do either. HOWEVER grounding to the block is safer because any sparking produced by connecting the battery pack occurs away from the expelled fumes from the battery which can be flammable.

Thank you very much! I do appreciate the information. I charged the battery pack this evening and will give it a go in the morning. Someone also suggest if I can't find the bolt to ground I can use the hood release bracket. Which that isn't painted and would be perfect for my needs.
