I have Drag DR-24 wheels which have a 40 offset; OEM is 55 offset and these wheels do look pretty flush. I mounted 205-55-15 tires on them, Yoko AVID V4S which are both taller and wider than OEM, and at the bumper stops I do get rubbing on each corner. It does not seem to cause any significant damage and happens infrequently so I am willing to live with it. The tires fill out the wheel wells nicely and ride and handling are way over the top. I do have a Progress rear antisway bar (torsion beam stiffener) and I run my fronts at 32 psi and rears at 25 psi, which corresponds to the weight distribution. With 195 tires it wouldn't rub as much. But Matt is right, when you get too far away from factory offset, you're in rub country.

40 offset for the front, and in the rear I would do something close to a 10 or 15.
While having the 40 up front you will need camber, and anything less than that you need drastic camber.

That big of a difference 40 to 15-10 will look gross and way too staggered

depends on the size of your wheel. a +40 offset 6 inch wide wheel won't stick out as much as an 8 inch wheel.
