Icon2 2008 Fit rough low idle when cold

It only happens when it's below 25-30 degrees fahrenheit. It happens when I let off the accelerator after coming up a hill out of the driveway and almost dies when the accelerator is pressed. After that it behaves normally.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Eric

It sounds like the idle air control valve, or you need to replace your coil packs.

Thanks for the ideas. Do you have a recommendation on a service manual?

Cheers,

Eric

It's just passed 85,000. Does the valve adjustment affect this typically?

Thanks,

Eric

TONS of threads like this on the FitFreak forum. 99.9% sure though this is a valve adjustment. Especially if you drive the car at ALL aggressively. I had a similar issue and had to get mine done around 45K. IF for some reason the valve adjustment does not clear this up, pull check and re-gap the plugs. If they are in good condition and gaps are not off, it's time for coil packs.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll check the gaps. What service manual would you recommend for tackling the valve adjustment?

Cheers,

Eric

You can use this. It is not a USDM FIT but once you get the valve cover off it is exactly the same.

Or use this one it is the same but you need to use IE

You must use Internet Explorer browser to see the photos. (click in the square grey boxes on the left.)

Thank you again for the great help. I'll post a follow up when I chase it to ground.

Cheers,

Eric
