Removing steering wheel cover
Hey folks,
I have a 1996 Honda CR-V and the horn mechanism seems to be stuck or shorting somewhere underneath the steering wheel cover plate. I've had this happen before with a Mazda and with that we simply removed the cover via couple screws, sorted out the short, and replaced the cover. I can't figure out how to remove that cover piece on my CR-V. Seems like it ought to be simple, any ideas? Thanks!

Has a Airbag? Disconnect the battery 30mins before you start working just to be safe.
Will have a cover on the back that you lift up and you will need a torx bit to undo the screws

Re: Removing steering wheel cover
As far as I can tell there is no airbag, but I disconnected the battery anyway to be sure.
I looked everywhere for a cover and couldn't find anything. I can get the cover to the steering wheel to move up about a quarter of an inch but won't budge after that. Is there some kind of releasing mechanism? I can't imagine this should be that hard. Ideas?

Depends if it has an airbag or not. What year is it? Do you have a SRS light on the dash board that comes on when you start the car?

Re: Removing steering wheel cover
remove these small covers on either side of the steering wheel shown below. once removed you should see two torx screws on either side of the steering wheel cover this is all that hold it in. How about showing us a picture if this still doesn't help
