1998 Honda CRV

Had my engine rebuilt....Everything seems to work but discovered my headlights and taillights won't turn on. The signal lights work fine.
The mechanic says the lights are not burnt out ... so the light switch must be damaged. He did not mention any fuses or other causes. So I buy another light switch (the light switch/signal light combination thing on the left side of the steering column) and install it but they still don't work.

What could be causing this? It seems really simple like they forgot to connect some wiring harness somewhere but Im not sure. I dont know how to read electrical diagrams of the car or how they are wired.

It seems unlikely that all 4 fuses (front 2 + rear 2) went out at the same time. Also, the high beam does not work either.

so did you change all 4 fuses? did it work?

I did not change any of the fuses... I looked at 2 and they were both fine... Figured the other 2 were ok.
