CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
Looked around a but, but just wondering if anyone has done a 5 spd change over friom auto. Also what motor swaps are possible for the CR-V i have a 1st gen. Been driving it daily for 3 years. I have a 90 turbo integra and a 98 w/ b16 turbo'd
Never really looked in to the CR-V, but it has 225k miles now, and just looking to maybe swap a new motor in.
Thanks!

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
is your crv awd or 2wd? 2wd swaps will be much easier. You can pretty much put anything in there you want, just depends on how much you are willing to spend. If you try and k swap an awd you will run into tons of issues with the transfer case and rear end. H2B is possible, there are a few builds that have been done but not many. Honestly, i think you would be better off buying a 5 speed crv rather than converting it. It will be harder and parts are a lot harder to find for the crv than a civic or integra. 5 speed crvs are pretty common

I have a 4WD one. :/
Might just order b20 a long block off HMotors and keep an eye of for a good auto trans.

I'm also interested in doing a 5 speed swap in my AWD CR-V. I was wondering if anyone has a link to a build on a manual swap. I've put two auto trannies in my CR-V now and the current one is starting to slip so I really want to go 5 speed now

4wd CR-Vs were available as a 5 speed, it's just not always easy to find CR-V pedals and transmissions. Conversion should be very similar to a '96 - '00 Civic.

i got lucky when i started looking for a V. it was the first one to pop up on autotrader.com and i called them up to see if they still had it. was a honda dealership about 15 miles away and i went there the next day with no car and drove home in my 01' 5spd silver V with 45k on it. this was 3 years ago. it has 95,500 on it right now.

i'd also have to say it is probably easier to find a 5spd crv for sale than to find a 5spd trans for sale.. and neither option is really cost effective.

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
I dont have time, money or a second car to drive so i can sell and buy a 5 speed. I'm assuming its similar to a 5 speed swap on a 240SX, I've only done about 6 of those.
I can get a trans, the only thing is saving up money for one, and its not hard to get the clutch lines, clutch, flywheel, master & slave cylinder. The only hard thing to get would be the clutch pedal.
does anyone know if the propeller shaft is different or if I need the manual brake pedal either. Bc on 240's, the brake pedal is positioned differently on 5speeds

You need the 5 speed brake pedal too, gas pedal and throttle cable are also different, but can be used (manual gas pedal and throttle cable feels a lot nicer though.

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
but, if you just wanna be 5speed and fwd.. itll be as easy as a civic/teggy conversion,
5speed and rt4wd is a different story..

Started looking in to a k20 swap w/ 4WD auto trans from the newer CR-Vs. This will be about 6 months away though. if i start, i will post up a build thread.

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
It would probably be a lot easier to run a 5 speed in that case, there will be some wiring for the K-series automatic tranny, they made second gen CR-Vs in a 5 speed 4wd configuration as well so the transmissions are out there.

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
rt4wd 5speed crv's population is just like 5% of the production that came out
here in US.. to find a wrecked/salvaged 5speed crv and get the tranny or the
whole set like a jackpot(imo) not unless youll get it from those engine depots
that import engines and parts.... i was saying that its easier to get a 5speed
tranny from any civic/teggy B series than getting a full 4wd 5 speed tranny.....
if the OP/TS is willing to sacrifice the rt4wd feature..he can do a basic 5speed
conversion same as the civics/teggys, i know monkey magic did the same thing...
he might wanna share on this idea...
as for the Kswap on our crvs.. ive been wanting to do that automatic or standard
tranny, but i really want to have the rt4wd feature though... but cost efficient, its
better to do a Jswap in our Vs and sacrifice the 4wd features coz on one of my
spare crv that still has the tranny problem... we looked into doing the J swap if we
couldnt fix the tranny issue now... or just get a fwd tranny... the mounts available
thats for EGs would likely fit in the crvs w/ less mods to be done.... but itll take a
long time for us to tackle this.... so please do share incase someone decide to do the
Kswap for our Vs atleast this would seal our plans knowing someone is doing the same
thing or would be the first to share all the mods.....

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
Yea, i want to keep the 4WD option, i live in indiana and winters suck here. I have a built turbo'd LS/Vtec EK civic that i use for fun/speed.
The CRV is just for winter and some other daily tasks. Ive been looking around for the motor swap. But like i said, i am looking into K series 4WD swaps. If it gets out of price range, ill just sell my 1g and look for a 2nd or 3rd gen 4WD.
We will see.

Re: CR-V Motor Swap and 5-spd conversion
In about 5 minutes on car-part.com I found quite a few 5 speed transmissions for sale and I'm sure they still probably have pedals and ECU
