Looking to swap a motor with a auto trans into my 1998 civic si
Well i have a 1998 honda civic si, it has a 5 speed but im gimped and my hand controls wont work with a 5 speed. Im looking to swap out my si motor for JDM B18C DOHC VTEC 1.8L GSR with the auto, i was wondering if that was possible from what ive read and been told it will but im not sure and if so what other parts would i need to do the swap and how much do ya think it the other parts would cost me !

There have been some who claim they've done auto B-series swaps in '96-'00 Civics, but I've never seen any pics of a conversion before.
Overseas there are EK4 hatches and sedans with auto transmissions mated to their B16As. The bell housing is the same as our US Integra LS automatic transmission housing (same part number when I checked), but still there are rumors of fitment issues of B-series auto trannys in US 6G Civics. The frame on the right side might be different, and I'm sure you'd need a new mount anyway (so it's likely the part numbers are different for that chunk anyway). That might explain the fitment issues.
Even the last guy who said he got it to fit said it was tight.
I'll check part numbers later when I'm home.

The auto to manual mount would push the transmission down to. low I think. It would require a custom fabricated mount that may not even be possible. You'd have to cut the manual mount out and weld in an auto mount.
I think it would be smarter to just sell the SI and find an auto. You'd probably come out ahead easily. If you don't, you would have to source an auto shifter, gauge cluster, do a lot of wiring (auto needs more wires), get a different intake and IACV. Switching from D to B would be easier than manual to auto. I'm sure it could be done, it's just not practical.

sell the car and buy an auto
let us all save you money and hassle
you might be able to even swap for an auto and have that 4500 left over for other things
if your looking for speed, get a tranny cooler for your auto and a small turbo

Sell the car and pick up a '92 - '95 Civic or '94 - '01 Integra automatic, this way you'll be able to use factory mounts and the transmission will actually clear the frame rail. Wiring is also a lot easier to deal with.

So it would probably just all round easier to sell the civic for what i can get out of it, and buy a acura 91-01 ? so if i did that and buy a acura with an auto trans and order a JDM b18c auto it would pretty much drop in no extra hassel ?

yes but if you're swapping in the JDM B18C for performance, an automatic car sorta contradicts that. Sell the civic and get an automatic 2.5 TL or something, you'd be more than happy with the 6 cylinder auto than the 4-banger. But if you really have your heart set on doing this, do what makes you happy dude
on a side note, you car has the 1.6 SOHC, right? I assumed the 98 Civic Si (CDM) is the Civic EX (USDM)

Yes, the Canadian Civic Si is comparable to the US Civic EX. Both have a 1.6L SOHC VTEC D16Y8 from the factory.

Ideally get a '94 - '95 Integra (easiest because an OBD1 JDM B18C swap will basically be plug and play. ('96 - '01 will work as well, but it seems to be harder to find a matching OBD2 transmission ECU and TCU. Your other good candidate is a '92 - '95 Civic. You'll still have to wire up the TCM but at least you can use factory mounts from an Integra.

alright so a jdm b18c1 will pretty much drop in a 94 to 95 integra no extra hassel and does the b18c1 have to come from a specific year of integra ?! anyone know anything about the b18c5 droppin into a 94 to 95 integra ?

The engine doesn't matter much, the year of the transmission does. So long as its an OBD1 transmission it should be ok. As far as an ITR goes you're sort of screwed being that they never came mated to an automatic so there isn't a proper ECU+TCM. The only thing you might be able to do is ITR engine with a B16A automatic tranny running a chipped automatic P28 or chipped and converted P06. The B16A automatic is the only tranny that doesn't use a seperate TCM, only thing is its my understanding that most tuning software doesn't support automatics as far as honda is concerned.

so my best bet would probably get a b18c1 and just drop it in, would the auto trans off an ls fit or be compatiable with the b18c1 ?

It fits but its geared longer and uses a different TCM, your best bet is to order a complete JDM swap (remember that USDM GS-Rs were never offered with an automatic)
