2004 CR-V condenser fan motor

2004 CR-V condenser fan motor
My A/C was only blowing cold if I was on the interstate or moving over 40mph. I found out that the condenser fan motor stopped working. I replaced it yesterday with a Four Seasons brand. If was blowing real cold. I ate lunch in it today and it stopped blowing cold air after about 30 minutes sitting idle. I noticed the fan stopped spinning. When I left work it was spinning again. Is the fan supposed to blow when ever the vehicle is turned on? Should I've just bought the Denso factory motor?

Re: 2004 CR-V condenser fan motor
Can't say for sure as I have an '05 - not positive the systems are the same between the two.
The fan will run when needed and it gets told that by the (at least on my CRV's) the ECM/PCM Fan Control and AC pressure switch. They usually start spinning once the AC is turned on.
Now, you could be low on Freon and the system is just turning off to protect itself. So the fan won't run then. However you say that it was blowing cold when you had air moving across the condenser (i.e. highway driving), so that sort of rules out low Freon.
By the fan not working your system cannot dissipate the heat in the freon so the condenser cannot do it's job. That's why it worked ok at 40MPH.
You say the replacement Fan does turn on after the car has cooled? (Your original fan was probably ok)
It's going to take a little digging into the the circuit that drives the fan to debug it. There is a thermal protector switch on the compressor that opens and shuts off the compressor when compressor temp gets too high. Wonder if that is acting up?
I'd still put some gauges on there just to be sure about the freon.
Not much help, sorry
Looking forward to see what you discover and the other suggestions here.
