If you are going to buy a pulley tool buy this one.

i have not heard of it happening with the crank pully, although i'm sure it has happened. my friend broke three different half inch drive ratchets using a cheater bar to attempt to bust an axle loose. had i had a braker bar with me i would have used it instead, as i don't want to HAVE to make a trip to sears if i brake a tool *knocks one wood* unless i have no other choice. probably going to make your tool since my b7's pully is like the guys that posted under your post i'm quoting saying the special tool doesn't work.

I made the tool and it still didn't work. My crank pulley cracked and broke. So I ended up taking it to a shop and they took a torch and an impact, 3 minutes later it was off.

That's why I bought a 600ft-lbs impact and a compressor, ended up being $150 altogether on sale

I am always right...

Dust farting? Yeah I do me some crop dusting from time to time.

Pole Smoking? Yeah, I am too cheap to give all my strippers lube for the pole... so what? They can afford to buy their own.

Yessir, this is what I'm talking about. Ratchets are not for freeing bolts and nuts.

Point of clarification: There are two special Honda pulley holding tools. Some people buy the wrong one. See my site and it talks about which tool is correct to purchase or make. But with I think two folks saying now they broke something with the homemade tool, consider buying one of the store ones. If you are a cowboy/cowgirl, like yours truly, and want to try the homemade one, then follow the instructions to the letter and watch what the tool is pushing up against. The pulley will break with enough force applied to its edge.

Has anyone tried putting a breaker bar on the bolt and wedging it against the ground or driver's side wheel suspension, and then putting the car in 1st gear and pushing it backwards? Any reason this wouldn't work?

Get a damn impact gun. 50 bucks for an imitation dual hammer impact at harbor freight.

It's easier to just buy a big enough impact gun and bust it loose. Quit playing around and buy/borrow/rent one and get it done with. I used my ingersol rand 600ft/lb with 1/2" air line to get mine off and it took about 3 seconds. I've done others with breaker bars but a bigass gun is the easiest if u have the money or access to one.
