It's nice to answer questions and hang out with people that don't use the word "DAWG" in every sentence and wear their hats straight...ie the Vette crowd. I should restate it as "respect for your car from people who know cars". Sound better?
</TD></TR></TABLE>

I guess that's the difference in the autocross world...Honda people hang out with the Vette people and the EVO people and the Porsche people...you get respect for your driving and being a good sport when you win or lose...most people like all the cars there.

Dang Vash, I've got to ask;

Do you regret having had the Honda's that you had? Did you have fun with them at the time?

I'm not asking if they were "cost effective" because it's impossible to justify spending money on any car.

Plain and simple, the crx (performance wise) is still very competative in motorsports. In Japan, here in the US with ITA and Honda Challenge, in Europe, these cars are still raced. Not only that, they are front running cars! look at the SCCA rules on the CRX and how they are gimping it with adding more weight with a D16A6 power plant!

Edit: Hopefully i still own one in ten years... this one might die on track... where it belongs

I do regret owning those money pits. It was idiotic of me to think that they were all powerful. But if you want to ignore the main reason for not owning one, then I will offer you this: The CRX is an answer to a question that nobody's asking anymore. The CRX was a good car in its day. 15 years ago. You have to realize that you are driving a car that was made to be a "utility knife" of sorts to Honda. It was both the slowest, and the fastest Honda in 1989. It was both the least economical, and the most economical Honda in 1989, and it was the most powerful, and least powerful Honda in 1989. It was very good in its day, but it's time to move on. A car that by now is stretched, bent, rusted, pulled, swapped, modified, broken, wrecked, and even the ones that are near mint, are now just relegated to the status of "old Hondas". When I had mine, I was in what I deem "The Honda Fog", or that blissful state where you think that Hondas are the best vehicles EVER. To people on a budget, they are, and I was happy with mine, but I've moved on, and I've realized that there are better cars to spend money on.

Yeah... those are just track queens. Highly modified vehicles that run for the fun of it. W00 H00. This is not the street, nor is it a reason for owning one. I could say the same thing about there being no reason for owning a Type R, but you'd have a million people saying that you can use it at the track. Yay. Sure. But I'm talking about just driving it daily. You guys can qualify owning it all you want, but it's still a 15 year old Honda.

Crazy to see so many good and not so good comments in this thread. I do believe that the majority of people driving a crx now will still it 10 years from now, but there are avid lovers for the car. I currently have 6 cars, 2 of them being crx's. One is just a winter carstill in decent shape, the other being in almost the condition as it rolled off the assembly line, and i now for sure i'll still have it years down the road.
As i'm 32 now and make decent money i did spring and buy a new RSX which is a nice ride, but i can tell you it drives nothing like the CRX does. I can't find a car that is as fun to drive, for what it is.

So Vash; that leads to the next question;

What the heck are you doing spending your time in the EF/CRX section of Honda Tech?

Honda fog? To be honest, I don't think anyone else lives up to the quality that honda puts into their vehicles. If you can't understand why people love this generation of cars, why are you still hanging around this section of honda-tech?

I know more about the car than most people on here, and I've done more to it than most people, so I lend my knowledge where it's needed. I'm not going to sit back and laugh when someone has a main relay problem, I'm going to help. But I saw this thread, and I'd thought I'd offer some advice from "the other side".

See last post.

Also, I could make the point that Toyota is a far better manufacturer...

I'd say they're at-par as far as the longevity of their products.

In ten years many crx's will be long dead crashed blown up whatever same with sti's and everything else. you still see cars from the 70's dailey so it's very possible I will still own mine. I Always had my eye on my crx and loved riding in it when my friend owned it, I was building 2 nissans I had but eventually sold them when my car was in need of A home... had lots of fun so far i've driven about 25k miles in it... I can't beleave how many times it has come close to being crashed or whatever but it still stands in good condition,has been known to walk wrx's @ 100 ha ha not sti's though....yet...maybe with my new engine.

Unibody construction has no frame, well in the truck sense. And crxs have that entire body rotting problem.

yeah yota frame rot, but you can fix that with a welder and some 3/8 stock or box steel. They are manufactured better than a honda, but suck *** next to a honda to work on. My truck took me almost 2 days to do a timing chain.

Back in the junkyard I rescued her from, probably. I am planning on a new 2006+ Civic Si (or another company's roadster, have not decided yet ) and might be trading in the 88 to get it, I don't need more than one car so she will more than likely become a donor for those of you that need parts. Nothing like recycling and reusing good parts!

You probably havn't bothered to look at the rules for ITA or H4 or most other racing classes, but "highly modified" doesn't come close to describing our race cars.

My ITA car is pretty much stock with a 8 point cage, koni/GC setup, fire supression, race seat and harnesses. We can't do much to the engine other then a short ram intake (not cold air), pistons .040 over (MAX), port 1" into the head (which doesn't do much)....the engines are pretty much stock...other then being blueprinted to spec.

Which one...? I'm thinking that all of my hatches will be sitting in a big garage, each with a different motor setup. crvtec, k20a, boosted k24.. you know.

Then at the end of the row, next to my ford gt, will sit a TwinTurbo NSX-R Lemans baby ( you know, the one from Best Motoring ).

hmmm can't wait

Yes, because we all like drinving around in cars with fire supression, kill switches, and roll cages. Ported, blueprinted, and bored stock engines are great!

The orginal posters question wasn't "where will your street driven CRX/EF be in ten years."

And I don't drive my "trailer queen" race car on public roads. BTW, my 15 yr old crappy civic would whoop your...whatever car...around any racetrack.
