I'm pulling the tranny for a clutch replace, and with the shift linkage I pulled the safety clip thingy...in the picture also, but that pin is in there good.
I put a punch and lightly hammered on it...from the bottom...and it didnt move at all.

what to do?

make sure it's a roll punch, and you have to give it a good wack at first with the hammer to get it started. then it should start to come out. and spraying some lube (like pb blaster) wouldn't hurt ether.

A good smack with a 4 lb. sledge! It's not called the bitch pin for nothing. If you do not have the right sized roll pin punch, you can use one of the long 12mm bolts that bolts the a/c compressor to the bracket.

I had heard about this pin, but didnt know what or where it was...crap.

Okay, I'm going to work on it.


one other quick question, to pull the axles out, it looks like the best way is to disconnect the lower ball joint and the tie rod end, and then swing it away?
I've read about "3 bolts at the shift fork", but I'm looking at it, and with the balljoint still connected, I dont see it swinging away from the tranny?

oh, and they say pull the exhaust, but Im looking at it, and it doesnt look in the way of the tranny?
thoughts?

???? 32mm for the axle nut, take off lower ball joint. you don't need to take off the tie rod end.

for the bitch pin, there is another way. use a C clamp, small punch, and a socket. basically you press the pin out with using the c clamp.

or a 3rd way pull the tranny with the linkage attached then you can get at it easier while its sitting on your garge floor...buy a new one they're like 2 bucks from honda and usually in stock definitely worth cleaning the hole out and replacing saves you a headache next time also use anti sieze

I bought a tool from Advanceautoparts to remove the bitch pin you can either use a hammer or put it in an air chiesel.
Cost all of about $15 and is well worth the money.

If all you are doing is changing the clutch, leave the shift linkage attached to the transmission. Just unbolt it from the shifter. As far as axle removal undo the lower ball joint and the bolt that attaches the strut fork to the lca. You can leave the axle still connected to the hub and just rotate it out of the way. I haven't had to take off the exhaust to take the transmission off before. If it is in the way take it off if it is not leave it. Don't make extra work for yourself.

It does get easier with practice. Having the correct tools probably helps too.

Don't forget to replace the rear main seal too.
