dont listen to these guys. Ive heard good and bad things about the phantom just like any other lsd system. Just call them and talk to them and maybe try it after you talk to them at phantom.
At least its made in the U.S. and not by a homeless chinese boy who gets to assemble a lsd when ever they choose him out of a line of 200 boys or girls. I got my obx and had to practically rebuild it myself to get it to work.

It's a pile of junk, i've dealt with it, well i should say it's aftermath first hand.
It's junk, flat out.
Phantom slip
Random grip
the jokes go on, for a reason.
Who ever liked it better then mugens lsd, must also think bud wiser >stella...
If you want a great LSD quaife is the only kind i'd look into for this car

Yea and Im sure when you talk to the guys at phantom they would be honest and tell you their product sucks? Why did you go obx if there is nothing wrong with the phantom grip? Anyways I think everyone else who has posted above has the right idea.

My friend installed one in a VW scirocco once. I would hardly call it an upgrade. After grinding on it enough to make it actually fit, it basically did nothing. needless to say he was pissed.

Re: phantom grip lsd conversion-upgrade (DailyDriverCivic)
yes i have to agree with all the post prior to this one about the phantom grip being less than satisfactory once installed. We are actually learning about transaxles and lsds in my honda pact courses right now and the prof told us he had a guy install one in a prelude a couple years back and the only thing included in the box were springs that locked the gears in the differential together making a front wheel drive car perform as if it had a spool rear end. Which i personally would hate to drive on the street or anywhere other than the strip...

And when its not actually acting like a spool and the parts are grinding against eachother in the differential...you get a byproduct of loose metal shavings floating around your transmission!
Its a pile of junk....we have tossed so many of them in the trash along with the transmission they ruined.

Re: phantom grip lsd conversion-upgrade (GearSpeedEF7)
Knowing what I have learned over the years about physics in general, I am seriously suprised that anybody even got any real effect out of having one of these, Especially a locking effect! (Whether it be desireable or not). The fact that it pushes on the gears so close to the axle's centerline, I am suprised it has had the leverage in any case to have that effect at all.

BINGO.
They are great for trashing the spider gears within the differential, which in turn spews metal shavings/chunks into the rest of your tranny.
"But the tranny has a magnet!"
It has to circulate through the tranny before the maget catches the ****, now doesn't it?
Phantom Grip = **** - PERIOD.

Wow great logic.
Hey you know the Tonado Intake and electric superchargers work great - just call them up and ask them!!! Same goes for any product sold on TV by Billy Mays - call up the very people trying to sell their horrible **** to you, and they'll be honest with you!

Well you bought a shitty product too. OBX = knock-off ****. Let them stick to making Altezza tail lights. buy Quaife and you'll never have that problem.
"...but Quaife is $800.00!" - yes it is, but it's got a lifetime warranty, and it works. You buy a cheap Chinese knock-off part and you get a cheap Chinese knock-off part.
Also, hate to say this, but truth be told a lot of foreign child laborers show more skill and attention to detail than fat ***, lazt unionized auto workers in America.
