My 90 EF Shell build thread
On christmas eve i picked this baby up:
For $400 including towing (another 100 being payed out for the title tommorow. but still.)
The wiring in the thing is a shithole, since the battery is already fabricated to the back of the car, but it's done in a confusing as **** way.
I'll get photos of it in a bit, but this will be my general build thread for this car. It already has a i4 w/ a turbo in it. It has the space for another turbo but the one i have doesn't fit it. So I'll have to just make-do.
Once I figure out how to wire the battery up it'll be slightly smoother sailing. The interior is dirty as can be, but I have most of the parts. Gonna go put the bumper on it a few, and gonna attach the hood after I run to home-depot to get 4 11 MM (7/16 inch) screws.
I need another 24V and an extension wire for the battery aswell (only came with one, need another to ground it to the engine).
Anyway, thoughts, comments, and suggestions are VERY welcome

A few more shots of things. Just so you understand how headachey it is.

I spent a bit of today on it. Need 4 11mm screws to put the hood on, otherwise its just latched in there.
Also painted the hook blue and blue with spray paint, I was pissed ^^

looks like a solid start, si i'm assuming? best thing i can suggest is completely gut the car and lay everything out on your driveway next to the car to sort things out.
good luck w the build, post up any questions u have.
Merry Christmas!

Re: My 90 EF Shell build thread
Few things to note:
1 of the tail lights is broken. Modding in camry lights for now, might do bodywork to put 'stang lights on in the end.
Hooked up a few parts today. Still have to mount and get the battery working. Been trying to get VERY SOLID on the wiring system for it before I **** with it. I don't want to get a + and a - Touching now do i .
Also, i'm trying to get it running before i do any REAL modding. Inside is probably just going to stay bare for now.
I intend to lay everything out tuesday, shopvac/windex/RAID/flametorch anything inside to clean it up a bit. This thing has a layer of gunk ive never seen in a car.
After that I'll probably hook up the electrical, and then start on the interior (shudding at the thought of that).
But atleast then I'll have a clean(ish) + warm inside to work on.
Also I should probably do an oil change, just realized that. Thats possibly 5 year old oil in that engine.

I'm talking more around http://www.toyota.com.au/static/imag...ts-749x422.jpg
I meant more like modding the car to have two identical sets above eachother.. meh.

soooooooooooo instead of hitting up a local junk yard for a tail light you'd rather ruin a perfectly good shell by attempting to mod other styles of body parts to your car?

Also gonna grab a few 11 mm bolts on the way home so I can mount the hood.
Expect pictures!

I wouldn't worry about the wiring too much man. After doing some wiring jobs (granted on much simpler cars) I actually enjoy it. Get yourself a good diagram from a service manual and start labeling.
Also, unless you got mad fab skills and really even if you do...please keep the tails stock.
Good start and do what you want at the end of it all.

Re: My 90 EF Shell build thread
Last night we took a shopvac and cleared out the inside of all the grime and muck!
Here's my driveway while we were doing this:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...122600107.jpg/
it was fun! When it was done there's a bit of black hard stuff here and there (guessing mold, rust, or just hard dirt, any of which is possible). But for the most part it's quite clean

Re: My 90 EF Shell build thread
Didn't get a LOT done yesterday, it started to rain! So my friend called me up and asked if I wanted to go hang out with a few people, and so I did.
Fast forward a bit, we're gunning it down a side road at 50 in the rain. Now I've run on tracks, so I'm not worried about handling. We come up to a turn that's pretty steep, and what does he do?
He ACCELERATES through the turn, FLOORED his car.
Went up a guard rain, knocked a tree, and ****ed up the side of his car.
Oh also I tried to put the hood on yesterday and two screws broke off inside it. A 3rd won't go in. Thinking I need an impact drill or I'm just going to nail it in.
Gonna try to pull the front off today as well, it's welded on, so I can get one of the heads for the engine on, and the radiator shield.

Re: My 90 EF Shell build thread
EDIT:
1.4L 16 Valve engine. Don't know what type.
And it's not really about the bolts, it's more that they stripped off inside the hood, so I either have to
A) Get them out
or
B) Just hard nail it in.
