I NEED HELP BAD!!! My cars idle is completely F*cked
So I go out and start my car. Crx with a d15b. And the idle starts jumping from 1500 to 2000 like crazy. The throttle responce feels like ****. If I put a little presure on the gas pedal, it it goes up and down the same just at a little higher of an rpm. It stops if you bring it past 4000. It seems like a sensor or something, but really don't know. someone help please!!!!

Re: (I Like Hondas)
I would start with checking the vacuum lines for cracks/disconnects.
Check for disconnected electrical plugs/connectors.
Clean out the TB.
I don't know if your car has an IACV, if it does clean that too.
(Idle air control valve)
Try those and get back to us.

i had the same problem on a lude and it was the intake mani gasket blown due to high revving. i say u get a brake cleaner and spray around the intake many and vacumm lines to see if it makes and effect on the car. if it does narrow it down to see where its leaking. thats usually the case if its not throwing a code.

IAVC
possibility, but just remember that your assumption is cus the air is not regulated which is controlled by the iacv but if there is a mechanical irregularity such as air leaks on the intake or vaccum hoses, the iacv will not regulate the air. plus buying and iacv is logically more expensive (50 bucks used) than checking for air leaks ( 0 bucks)

I'm going towards vacuum leak on this one. Check all the flexible black hoses that run air through them for cracks. Be sure to check well around the nipples where they attach. I had one cracked at the nipple and my idle constantly surged from 700-1500 every 5 seconds. Fixed it and boom, I was golden. And you know you want to play with your car's nipples.

well. do this my man. get a bottle of brake cleaner (make sure it stays away from the spark plugs, alternator, dizzy (u dont want to ignite any sparks ) and carefully spray it little by little following all the vacumm lines. when the car starts to react to the spray, u got an air leak cus the brake cleaner is blocking the leak and instead of air your getting more 'fuel' in your combustion chamber'. also, spray where the intake manifold and the head assemble itself to see if your intake gasket is messed up. its as easy as spraying the car. why brake cleaner thoug? well, it dries up quick and you dont want a flammable substance showering down your engine while the car is on cus the brake cleaner usually dries up instantly on the spot and usually wont drip

Both could help. And I think it has to be vacuum lines, what you guys are saying is exactly whats happening. Xander teh Grate, what should I do when I find a crack? Do I gout ot and buy new ones or is there something easier?

When my PCV valve cracked it cracked a uncontrolled vaccum. IT would idle from 700-2500 all the time, just jumping around every which way. It would do so till about 3000rpm of driving when it would smooth out (the vacuum needed was great then the leak) and it would drive fine.
Check your vacuum. My old D15B2 cracked 2 hoses before I finally threw it in the garbage.

Re: (I Like Hondas)
i think your best bet is buying a haynes manual or maybe going to the dealer and ask the guy at the parts dept if he can give you a print out of the vacumm diagram 'because you need to check to see if some hoses are wired correctly so you can come back and buy an EGR later' or make summtin up. just follow that diagram or just kinda calculate how much hose your gonna need and replace one by one.

Good Idea. I talked to one of my friends who has had many crx's and told him what was happening. He told me to pull a censor from almost off the intake manifold. It fixed the idle problem but I have no idea what censor I pulled. That might be bad huh?
