Had my dream car...now its gone

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
That sucks man. But as other said, you should be able to settle to buy the car back. I don't think you need a lawyer, that would get expensive fast.
Just be reasonable, ask for what you think a clean shell would cost + you keep the car. It's your right to be able to buy the car back.
That's why you never let them tow the car to the yard, always insist on having it towed home and then let their appraiser come see it. I hate to say it, but there is a very good chance somebody is going to strip stuff off your car while it's in the impound.
Get it back to your place ASAP, until you settle it's still legally your car so you should be able to tow it home.

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
I was in the exact same situation.17 and my first crx got hit from behind from some stop sign running dummy.his insurance cAme out and I told them what I had into it.I got 1600 and they take it.or 1450 and keep it.I kept it ,took the 1450.got a running crx si for 850.put my b16 in it and sold a bund of parts off the old car (hf).I made 2000 more off the hf.I got a si out of the whole accident and my rates didn't go up .and I have a bunch of money in my pocket.to make my new car better And faster.I had 3000 easy in my old car but I got alot more then if would staight sell it when it wasn't crashed"totaled ".just use this to your advantage.crxs are going for cheap. Insurance companies suck

Okay well I figured some stuff out....
The insurence company is giving us $1950.40 and giving us the car back, so now I need to focus on fixing the front end or should I just buy a new car and use my car for parts..

I say don't let them have it. If they do want to take it you should remove all of the parts that are worth anything and start another build because that is a sweet ride. (well despite the damage) beyond that... man that is some serious bs. I am rooting for ya dood.

From the damage you have up there, it may very well be bent.
If that is the case, then I would go for a new shell... or weld on a complete JDM front clip with RHD (I would never do that - but some people)
Obvious that the fenders, bumper, and hood need to be replaced.
If that's about it, then it's a prime candidate for a JDM front!

kinda hard to say by the pics. but i think you could get away with just a new front core support, hood, bumper support, and bumper cover etc... by the looks of it maybe the frame didnt get touched. look into it...

well you just bought the car. you have no reciepts therefor no proof that the car is worth 3500. you have to provide your proof of reciepts as the original owner of the parts. happened to my friend and **** happens. if your lucky you can get your money back but this is how it goes

and with that much damamge it wouldnt be worth to rebuild that car. buy it back and part it out. cause salvaged title cars are worth nothing.

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
its totalled due to the fact that the car is an older model. and kelly blue book for the car is less than the amount of damage to the car.
so lets say the car is worth 2000.00 rated at a good condition crx si via kelley blue book.
subtract the following. prices are as is from the dealership
radiator support
bumper reinforcement
bumper cover
bumper foam
headlights
cornerlights
bumper lenses
fenders
hood
paintjob
well worth a thousand dollars in just replacement parts not to mention the extra money for special services like painting the car.
how can you say its not totalled? the bumper is crushed! my homies car just got his radiator support slighty slapped back and it was salvaged. the guy ran straight into him and did the exact same thing to his crx, on his si hatchback.
plus add in other factors. car may not be state ref, stuff that doesnt belong to the car. just buy the car back and build yourself another crx. dont waste your time with lawyers and loose that extra money winning the fight. not worth it. plus you dont have the original reciepts in your name. my friend tried to get extra money when he got his car crashed for my rims but insurance company wont allow it, if he didnt buy the rims.

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
Update: Getting the car back in about 2 weeks, The passenger side frame rail was bent back about 2 inches so they pulled it back and everything looks fine. My front core support wasn't really touched so I am just getting it fixed and re painted. So glad I am getting my rex back :D

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
but the quesstion is do you now have a salvage title because if so its not worth the repair as its resale value is almost nothing what you have into it. best option is buy a empty shell clean title to swap parts into.

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
sorry to see that. same thing happened to my lude and insurance was going to give me half the money i put into it. if nothing comes out with the lawyer, swap out the motor and sell it, that b16 swap is worth more than 1500

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
Yes it is a salvage title I am just going to have it fixed and drive it as a dd and maybe sell it. I'v always wanted a crx so I kinda just wanna keep it.

Re: Had my dream car...now its gone
Thats what I am saying...... When I first wrecked the car I was like damn I might just come out ahead seeing how. Got in a wreck not my fault, My neck hurts..and It has been pretty much the opposite.
I mean the car has well over $3500 dollars in suspension and brakes and ****
I mean the car has well over $3500 dollars in suspension and brakes and ****
However, THEIR insurance should still take care of EVERY expense to get the car fixed.
